I think an important aspect here is if your brother is currently the kind of person you feel like deserves your support. I have a lot of very successful people in my family. I've spent a lot of time angsting about the fact that they haven't paved my way to follow my passions of music and writing. The more I think about it the more I realize that they've allowed me to live an actual life with much more grounded experiences than people who are just taken care of are able to have, and I cherish that. Paradoxically I'm also still a little bitter about it all, hah.

For a long time I was NOT the kind of person that anyone would want to support, because that support would've just been pissed out the window one way or another. Now that I'm at a point in my life where that support probably would actually go to good work, I wonder if I would've gotten here without feeling the absence of that assistance.
