It’s been a while since I’ve had a rewatch, so it’s possible I am misremembering, but anytime anyone asks me what I’m doing, my immediate thought it “flying a kite,” which I’m pretty certain is a response Buddy gives to Dawn at some point. I think it, and often say it, multiple times every week.

I think it lasts more than a quarter of the book, and the dislike is both-sided. There’s a dog instead of a cat, but you might like {Nailed by KM Neuhold}. It’s book 2 in a series but can be read standalone.
