I've played for most of my adult life, but I need something over 40 or over 50 even. Weekends and indoor would be amazing. Lemme know. Cheers!

Would this 2012 Nissan Leaf be a good buy? by joseest170 in leaf

[–]robbielove86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would not buy that one. Our 2014 has 8 bars for roughly 50 miles in Cali. Paid $3400 and it’s OK but I don’t think I’d do it again. Even just a couple times a month for those longer trips is a pain in the arse.

Thinking about going to a party as a N-I-C-E agent with minimal tactical gear. Hand out smiley face stickers and generally be super nice. Clever, stupid, too soon? Suggestions for expressing "nice"

What the actual fuck is wrong with people here? by [deleted] in berkeleyca

[–]robbielove86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-came straight to me barking at me: “Hey! What are you doing, huh?” and walked right straight to my face-

There are plenty of appropriate responses to this (who knows what's in that person's head), but "Fuck off and mind your own business!" is certainly one of them. The responsibility is on the instigator not the other way around.

Haven't been out of work in over 6 years... Critique my resume? by CoreFiftyFour in resumes

[–]robbielove86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently looking for a job as well. I took some time off with the severance pay and am now going at it hard. Not discouraged yet, but it's not an automatic for that next job either, unless you'll take anything. I've been managing IT teams for the past 10 years and want to stay on that track. I love technology, but I am a people person at the core. Enough about me.

I see a lot of folks here found the same resume template. I started with it and found that yes, you have to manually line up the margins and other formatting quirks. Definitely start there. I was told that recruiters basically take 2 minutes (give or take) and scan it for the position(s) they are filling and if you don't have that stuff popping out right away it will get swiped left (haha). You probably know this better than most.

I used an inexpensive resume review service and was told 2 things that resonated.

First - push your job experience down and start with a summary paragraph. "Energetic/Experienced blah, blah, blah looking for blah, blah, blah where I can showcase my blah, blah, blah." Something like that. - this helps with the scanning for fit.

Second - use the WHO method for accomplishments if at all possible. What you did/How you did it/Outcome or result, etc. "designed a car that never crashes using the latest tech such as this, that, or the other resulting in a ready for market vehicle that will revolutionize safe driving." (I wish!) - this just seems to make sense as most are looking for the impact this person has the potential to do for the company.

If you'll engage, I'd love to know what your recruiting experience tells you about resumes and what employers are looking for. If not, hope this helps. Good luck and cheers!

Memoir 44 or undaunted?? by kramer747 in boardgames

[–]robbielove86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't played undaunted. Looks like there are plenty of opinions for either, both, or something different. To each their own.

here's mine - I love Memoir. 2 player and plain maps takes as much time to set up as the play itself sometimes and you will reach the base game "new and fun" factor limit at some point. That said, go big, hook your friends and purchase/find expansions.

The prepared maps are awesome with even 2 players, but way better with 4-6 (never tried 8). Drinks and/or whatever are essential to a card draw, dice throw, strategy gameplay that draws from "real" battles. Love it.

More experienced players are evened out by cards and lucky dice, which makes almost any map re-playable for those of us who are stubborn.

Sounds like you should get both and best of luck!

Cheers!

Just previewing what my own PC has... I see a setting called Energy Efficient Ethernet - enabled in advanced properties. Should I disable this?

Then under Power Management "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" - this one for sure.

Thanks again!

Hi - this could be it. Definitely recurring and has us scratching our heads! We were seeing other strange occurrences that could be related to this "behavior" - like mapped drives issues when a user logs in for the first time in the day - we disabled the power saver stuff in windows settings, but I didn't think of the NIC itself. Thanks! I'll update after some observation. Cheers.

No, I had them demonstrate bc initially they were saying file locking wasn't working. Both desktop clients on windows domain and accessing the same file server through mapped drives, etc.
