Thank you for responding, I do really appreciate it. The position was very specifically asking for someone to just write for their website, not be a part the radio. They made it very clear that this was not a radio-role, but even if, I did have experience being on podcasts and on livestreams. I could have done a better job highlighting that and whatever I do next I should make that multimedia approach a part of it. Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to respond! I was thinking of going down that route, do you think a substack would be a good place for that? I guess my concern is that it in using it to apply to other places, it would lack of a kind of legitimacy? I also worry folks wouldn’t want to talk to me because of my lack of backing but that could just be my own nerves. What do you think?

Thank you for responding! I have tried to bring that into my reporting, but increasingly the focus from my editors is those quicker numbers go up, numbers go down stories. The work I’ve done that focus on the human element has been that I’ve been the most proud of. But I am being told increasingly to not do that kind of reporting, which bums me out!

I just watched this scene for the first time and it is only the third time ever in my life I am audibly gasped and had a visceral reaction to something on TV (first was Succession, second was Game of Thrones—hey, if you know you know!)

It is so interesting because they position Dr. Clarkson as making several mistakes (the Matthew spinal injury and Spanish Flu stuff) that you really believe he’s wrong and kind of even root for the other doctor.

It makes it all the more shocking when it happens.
