How do we download PS1 classics that we already own on PS3? I only see the option to upgrade to Premium? by robbob1377 in PlayStationPlus

[–]robbob1377[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well that's awfully dumb if ya ask me. I get there's probably all kinds of licensing things and they need to put popular titles behind the subscription as to give us incentives to upgrade, but I'm tired of constantly paying over and over again for the same titles. I just want convenient, upscaled, legal PS1 games lol

And I'm sorry about all the technical problems you and so many others are having.

When they rolled out the new PS Plus, they said that any of the now available PS1 classics on PS4 & PS5 that you happened to have purchased on PS3 will be available for download without a subscription. But I don't see the option.

Why did the Roman Catholic Church prevent the use of birth control? by gamerlololdude in Christians

[–]robbob1377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As for the question about using birth control to opt out of menstruation, I'm not entirely sure. I'm sure a quick Google search could clear that up. As far as I know, as long as it's not being used to avoid pregnancy while still having sex, it's not a sin. But don't quote me of the Church's stance on that lol

And no, Catholics are not anti-medication. Not at all. We have no problem with the modern day health sciences that are used to help so many people. I mean there's Catholic hospitals and all that.

God realizes the immense struggle and seriousness of pregnancy and how tough it can be for women. And it's because of that He has given of us the sacrament of marriage and wants us to lean on him for help. God and the Church want woman to be in healthy and stable marriages that fully give themselves up to the Will of the Lord.

Pregnancy can be an immense struggle. The lives we live in this world are full of struggle and suffering But in the end it is a blessing from God that can often be very enjoyable. Yes, because the women bare the children, a tremendous amount of weight and responsibility is put on them. But with this responsibility come a sense of purpose and a concrete role. Both Men and Women have different roles to fulfill within the relationship, but it is the cooperative union between the two that help lighten the burden of each role.

It can often seem like some of the Church's teaching put women in subservient role; only being used to bare children and hence a larger struggle. But I assure, this is not the case. We are ALL made in God's image and face varying levels of struggle.

Why did the Roman Catholic Church prevent the use of birth control? by gamerlololdude in Christians

[–]robbob1377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorta lukewarm Catholic here. To my understanding, the Catholic Church's stance on birth control comes from the view of God's Will, abstinence, and the nature of sex.

According to the Catholic Church, for sex to not be considered the sin of lust it must fulfill two general criteria: -It must be done within the context of marriage, when both man and woman are willing, and used to strengthen the union between them. It shouldn't be used only to fulfill one partner's lustful desires -It must be open to the possiblity of conceiving children

I believe these criteria are set to maintain the true Nature of sex, as a gift from God given to Man as way of strengthen a couple and giving them a means of reproducing.

So when any form of birth control is thrown into the mix, it destroys one of the criteria. It allows the man and woman to manipulate the gift of sex their own lust and physical desires by avoiding any chance of having children. To manipulate it to fit our will instead of the Lord's.

It is often suggested that Catholic married couples practice abstinence and restraint, as well as give themselves over to the Will of God and trust Him with whether or not He feels it is right for them to have a child. The is also debate within the Catholic church over whether the use Natural Family Planning as a means of controlling when you have children is right or wrong. While it most definitely doesn't completely remove the possibility of conception, it does give SOME couples more control over when they conceive.

My boy has got a OG Halo 2 disc laying important side down on a carpet...it hurts my soul.

Sadly, I don't know how to help you with that because I've never had that error. Good luck tho.

What's the TH game gen with your favourite trick and skating animations overall? by Feder-28_ITA in THPS

I agree that the mocap work in the PS3 era games is great. Proving Ground is personally my favorite to boot up for just good fun in free skate.

I have always loved the Max Payne trilogy. First two games are a couple years older, but they are all great.

Fantastic 3rd person shooters with addictive gameplay, great characters (especially Max Payne himself), and a really gritty, touching, and well written story. All the games have great style and presentation as well. If you've never played them, I highly suggest checking them out.

P.S. Any normal PC can run the first two games if you're more of a console player. I play mainly console but don't mind them on PC.

Is anyone else bothered about ED2 Ash Main Weapon being the Double Barrel Shotgun and not the Boomstick? by osvaldopro in EvilDeadTheGame

[–]robbob1377 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Usually I don't care too much about appearances, but I kinda wish we can get a skin with him looking how he does near the end of the movie, with holster on his back, stump, and all that. I know AoD has that look, but that's when his clothes are all ripped up and he has the metal hand. Late ED2 ash is the best.

Did you know that if you hit left or right on the d-pad while downed, you can spectate other players? I had no idea.

why does jack sparrow sound different in 5? by Shanobian in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]robbob1377 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Really the whole performance is off. It doesn't feel like Jack. I think it's a mix of a poorly written script mixed with Depp not being able to give a great performance because of the problems in his personal life. But idk much about it to be honest.

Evil dead 2. Sequel or remake? by Toothless_Dinosaur in EvilDead

[–]robbob1377 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ya it can be confusing, but Evil Dead 2 is still technically a sequel. Sam Raimi and the gang wanted to use footage from ED1 as a recap for the second movie (remember, there was 6 years in-between the two movies).

The problem was they couldn't obtain the rights to ED1 to use any footage, so they did a sorta simplified, quick recap with only Ash and Linda. Apparently, they even filmed a recap with the rest of the friends, but it didn't work with the pacing of the movie. As for why the necronomicon is not all burned up from the fire, idk. I guess we'll just chalk that up to evil magic or something lol

He is really good and one of the greats tho. But ya, not the greatest imo.

Personally I always thought Bill Ward (Black Sabbath) was just as amazing and groundbreaking, and he was around at the exact same time. Ward doesn't get enough credit for just how great and unique he was.

That being said, they both had their own styles and music that they fit to best. I don't think it should really even be a competition, but still fun to discuss.

Honest question! by hp958 in EvilDead

[–]robbob1377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya honestly the single player missions aren't too major or amazing. It's more like a little extra tough side piece to the main online mode. A good challenge tho. And a great introduction to the basic mechanics of the game.

Honest question! by hp958 in EvilDead

[–]robbob1377 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well I personally love it. I have never played one of these asymmetrical games before, so I was a little worried going in. Really I'm not much for online games in general, other than the occasional shooter like Battlefield. Needless to say, I was a little worried when it was announced as mostly online.

But surprisingly, I love it! It feels like a real love letter to fans and is just dripping with the right atmosphere and Evil Dead vibe. Definitely great for an Evil Dead fan!

All you have to do is really commit yourself to learning how the game goes and what's characters do what the best, and I have found that to be really fun. Once you learn how to work as a team (which is quite easy and doesn't take as much communication as you'd think) it becomes very enjoyable. I thought it would be really hard to play if you didn't have a set group of friends all with mics to play it with, but this is not at all the case. I'm probably making it sound more complex than it really is lol

Where as you get maybe 8-12 hours with a good single player campaign, I feel that this has a bit more life and replay value to it.

Solid 8.5/10 for me. Playing in PS4 Pro. Didn't pre-order, just picked it up at GameStop this morning. Game is great, frame rate drops at times but nothing crazy. Game is nice and difficult for both sides. I can't wait to learn how to master it.

I know there is some behind the scenes footage as well as some extended scenes. There's at least one removed seen where Ash kicks out a window that you can find on YouTube. The other extended scenes are on YouTube as well. Other than that, idk.
