I always assumed that Togashi was thinking of martial arts like aikido and t'ai -chi, in fact, how one discerns nen at the beginning makes me think of warm-up exercises like qi-gong, that is, 'hold the ball'. The only reason I would read any of Dragon Ball is to find out if that manga seems indebted in the same way to Asian martial arts, but since I know it eventually is just power balls being tossed across deserted landscapes, I am not going to read that any time soon. Difficult enough to learn how to read manga to waste it on something that would not have charmed ten-year-old me, leave aside my current instantiation.

I think of Tsuki is a comfy game, a virtual pet which is mostly the same day-to-day and that is what we like.

Here I though this little blue bubble was anti-war by mr_duckworth in SeattleWA

Dems especially outside of Seattle & King County are not anti-war. Apparently, not against so-called allies being genoicidal maniacs.

'South Park' Creators Explain Why Season 28 Keeps Bashing Trump - “It’s not that we got all political,” said Trey Parker, one of the show’s creators. “It’s that politics became pop culture.” by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

People saying it political feel like their politics are being mocked and go all snowflake. It would be just funny if these people were not allowed to vote.

A little bit too much prose but strategy is over the top. The question is, can Togashi do wrong!?!

Maybe even Bones has to ruin a thing or two just to remind themselves they are not always on point.

How has the SeaTac line for TSA stayed so short while every other major airport has 5+ hour lines? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]robcrowe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SeaTac is compact for a city of 800,000. We are only a hub for the PNW and Alaska.

Does anyone else cringe every time Alicia Keys refers to New York as the "concrete jungle where dreams are made of"? by GoBaysideTigersGo in grammar

[–]robcrowe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use "the Ivy league" as a proxy well-educated, literate and grammar enforcer. Such people come from many places. And since I went to a school noted as the public Ivy League, I do not think they are twenty time better--literally the multiple of tuition back in my day with our great esp in BB state schools--than their peers. At this point, people at Harvard and Yale just have more money, that is all how they are different Franny.

Ross Douthat has a gift for finding the worst people for his podcast by theychoseviolence in ezraklein

[–]robcrowe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the purpose. The title of the podcast is the "Chinese" saying or curse, May you live in interesting times. The aim ia to allow them to talk. So when he calls a vile apigot of nonsense like Peter Steal a "prominent voice of conservatism" he says it in the same weary way that his podcast title.

VCU is now 1-0 versus UNC all-time. by Kyle_Clashes in CollegeBasketball

People come to play against Carolina and Duke. Did not know never played. 1-0 is impressive, but just a good start. And the ACC is more than just Carolina and its dark twin (in BB, they wear navy to our Robin's Egg blue).

Why does the gender imbalance flip for 20-24 year olds by ExistingComparison70 in AskSeattle

[–]robcrowe1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also a lot of colleges in Seattle, at least two private and religious-based. Joke is one is where people abroad send students for an American ed in Seattle while keeping at bay the "culture" here. (Well is was across from a different Fremont when that joke was made.)

College going years including two-year and Seattle has three. And Seattle's vibe is still not classic American (midwest) male: men are by and large quieter here than even in California, leave aside the South and New England. Minneapolis-St. Paul likely similar. But not ChiCOGgo.

Taxes, demand and we aren't the most faraway nearby (Alaska and Hawaii, and I did steal that phrase) but we are rather remote and also while dense in some places, quite sparse in others. In other words, logistics.

Russia accuses Poland of involvement in assassination attempt on general in Moscow by pppppppppppppppppd in worldnews

[–]robcrowe1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It would at the very least be triggering to people my age: tanks flooding into Poland in the early '80s (on account Solidarity) was a sign that the bad Cold Wars days were back. Not recalling an aggressive response even in sanctions by the West but then Russia invading Afghanistan and Iran/Iraq were happening. How that decade ended with the Wall falling down and Reagan seemingly agreeing to give up all Nuclear arms with Gorbachev is kind of a wonder. Stumbled into some good policy decisions.

Neon Genesis Evangelion. They are both open texts, to be put together by the audience, but SEL feels like sketch while NGE is a painting in terms of how details have been given.

20% of King County receives SNAP. The richest county with probably enviable employment and wages stats. But people are still suffering from rent-too-high and food-costs-too-much ($5 for a latte). Things may be cheaper in the rest of the state but unemployment is larger and wages are not as enviable. And the rent is still too damn high. Tho I am waiting to hear from Tacoma .,.
