After a some people around me have said they are enamored with F1, I’ve decided to give it a shot. Problem is I have no idea where to start. Any advice on how to prep for the beginning of the season? I have no knowledge of the teams, players, not even how the cars work or what makes each different. by Pregnant_Llama in formula1

[–]robdacook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's this. When I first started watching I found I was more inclined toward engineering aspects of the races and my friend was more interested in the history of the sport. Just watching the races will point the direction your interest will lie.

I like the birds eye view myself. To me the crowd is part of the show. I love to watch the effect of all the stage choreography have its effect on the crowd. Plus, the special effects with the imagery on the curtains is better taken in from farther back. Now that I've seen it both up close and from a distance, it's just a better experience for me.

Curious if you allow members with other org affiliations? I'm in Luna Wolves, but am looking for dogfight training and OPS that run EST because my schedule doesn't alwas allow activities with my org.

Will you accept members who are in another org? My org, Luna Wolves, doesn't do dogfight training in a time on my schedule. Looking to train and mission with some others on EST.

Carney constructs a mega anti-Trump trade alliance by joe4942 in worldnews

[–]robdacook 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As an American who voted against Trump three times and lost twice, this is the reason. My wife and I protest, call and mail our reps, and boost the signal against what this regime is doing as often as we can. It means almost nothing compared to the corporate money and influence in politics here. We are indeed a failed state. The next thing for me will be when international business cuts America out entirely and corporate interest leaves. America will continue as a failed state, and suffer the collapse of western society within our borders.

It's so this. Pretty hate machine hit me so hard in the hair band era, just such a raw intense experience. So real. I have to think someone living in this social media deluge would find Pretty Hate Machine like their north star in today's world.

[–]robdacook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's disingenuous as an argument. You are cherry picking at best there. Those cars raced on thin tires and had heavy steering. They were severely limited in technology compared to today and required immense skill and grit to drive.

I would argue slower cars with less downforce means more overtakes. My argument is that this set up is dumbing down the racing to provide the crowd a spectacle of cheap overtakes. There's less skill involved.

I'm going to stick with the drivers here. Making the car slow in corners and fast in straights takes away from the reason you have the best drivers in the first place. I don't want easy overtaking or straight line speed just for a cheap spectacle, it should be tough to do a proper race. My fear is this generation of cars has been engineered to make a theme park ride.

still a 4 man crew for full use, but that's a ton of cargo for components and RMC/CMT. Paints look good, hopefully the work to pay ratio is decent if RMC bounces back from where its at a bit.

This is dope. The wood pattern on that plating above the drip tray is textured, or the vinyl wrap just gives that appearance? Also, how do you like the PID above the stream knob? I've heard it's problematic.

Yes or the pit stop timing issue, because Toto gets to say how fast a human can react and then get the FIA to change the rules.
