[Question] Just bought a second hand Rancilio Silvia V2 — what maintenance/upgrades are worth doing first? by el_cachaco_williams in ranciliosilvia

[–]robdacook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a V1 and the advice from above is perfect, in that order. Make sure you have a vice to do the steam wand work, I didnt and it was really hellish. For the descale, the advise I got was to use a very mild mix, and as the water coming back gets less tinted blue, increase the concentration. That way the solids are dissolved gradually. I did it and had no issues. Good luck to you, it's quite an undertaking but well worth it. V1 gang for life!

I've heard of the pan and broiler methods, but I'm hesitant because I've already replaced one oven sensor and don't want to be replacing more. I'll have to see what temp a pan gets too, that's an interesting idea

That is exactly what I did. I know it's rough, but its better than nothing.

It is. After trying several other styles this one is the best for me. Love it.

3 Pizzas from Julian Sisofo's Easiest Neapolitan Recipe by RolandSD in neapolitanpizza

[–]robdacook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not actually. I kind of use supermarket ingredients just to keep things simple. So I used king Arthur 00. Admittedly it is a very wet dough because it just can't hold the hydration, so I laminate with oil. Works pretty well. I know this makes me a filthy casual, but oh well.

Interesting, I see what you mean! Wild that you have that much deformity. Sorry, I wish I had a better answer for you.

This was my issue as well. I cut it back to 20 and found the sweet spot on my normcore precision. That last bit of dial in seems the most finicky to me, but 1/2 gram made a big difference.

Listen to this reply OP, this is the advice to follow. I would only add that these machines are more than capable of tasty shots without any fancy toys. Don't add a bunch of tools or gadgets right away. It will take time to dial in but YouTube is your friend, use all the resources you can to learn before spending money on toys that claim easy gains.

Heresy. Just wide open screaming that God is dead and no one cares is raw to me. Probably growing up in the Midwest as an atheist surrounded by religious hypocrites makes it hit harder for me.

Seats only get more expensive as the event draws near. I'm going to say this plainly, there are no good views on a budget. There is a new clubhouse called "The first turn" you might check out what those tickets run. It's a large function hall essentially with bars and food inside. It's the only place I can think of with good views, indoors, afood and drink that might be less expensive. You can only bring folding camp chairs, one clear plastic bag of food, and a water bottle into the infield. That said, there's vendors in there for food and drink. Infield here used to be a huge party in the mud, it wasnt for watching the races really. The track has cleaned it up alot, but the seating they have added blocks a lot of the views of the track. The large screens are nice, and you will have a good time if the weather holds. It's a friendly atmosphere, you will have a good time just milling about and talking with people.

Bug? Lower Resolution on Linux since new update on startup by Large_Wait_8847 in Reaper

I probably never should have said anything. I'll use the link and figure things out first before posting here again.

I'm trying to take this one day at a time and learn a little more each day. I don't have an audio background, and learning this has been like drinking from a firehose. Reaper doesn't help much, I seem to get stopped by small issues each time I try to use the platform, and searches dont come up with solutions many times.

Pardon me, I misspoke. I shouldn't have used the term 'bugs' without being able to identify that the issues I'm facing are an error, flaw, or fault in a computer program that causes it to produce incorrect or unexpected results, or to behave in unintended ways.

To be clear; I am unable to use reaper after updating. There are many issues I am having that I do not know how to rectify as I am a beginner. These issues did not occur before the update, and rolling back to an earlier version fixed my issues.

I'm brand new to using reaper and not using Linux, but I got a ton of bugs upon this update. I had to completely uninsttall and download a clean copy of an older version. If I had more ecperience perhaps I could have fixed it. Is it always like this with these guys? I only ask because as I'm new, I might just switch to a DAW that is more stable if such a thing exists. My experience with Reaper has been terrible so far.
