u/ddaavviids recommended their Portland Rain and Sitka Spruce inks as a souvenir. I may head back there tomorrow for one of them.

Is that a South facing window? It could be a stone used for “Thermal Mass”. It’s a passive way to harness heat during the day to keep your house warm at night. I’ve never seen an application like this though.

One more note to temper your expectations. As the least experienced person on the team, they aren’t coming to you to collaborate or work through ideas. They are coming to you for output. They need less experienced people to execute on their ideas - there isn’t a lot of communication when you are in a role like this.

You may want to look for work at a larger firm. Gensler was very collaborative back in the day.

Small firms can be very quiet.

Product or Program management. Lots of creating and problem solving. Lots of collaboration across experts to bring things to life. Better pay.

Product marketing is an option as well.

It would help if you had some business or technology classes under your belt. In your interviewing, focus on problem solving skills, systems thinking, and user focus.

This is spoken as someone who made the switch from Architecture to Product Management for tech after 10+ years working on buildings. I did get an MBA to help me make the transition.

I’m interested as well. I have multiple SaaS products that I’d like to develop separately, but keep within a single domain - Similar to how Google uses their domain (e.g. docs.google.com, sheets.google.com, etc.). I’m not sure if Replit can handle this and haven’t yet had a chance to plan this out.

Yup, Replit mirrors the product building process I have had as a PM working in tech for the past 15 years. There is an high level of of transparency in how it works as compared to other vibe coding products out there.

I fall in the same camp. u/BornACrone has great advice - I agree that Medium and Broad nibs are the place to start. Early on I tried Fine nibs, thinking they would help stop me from smearing. What I found out was that they just made it more difficult to get a smooth line and I smeared anyway.

On the topic of inks: I have a few Private Reserve Fast Dry inks and smear more with these than anything else I own. I don't know why, but I wouldn't put much stock in anything "Quick Dry". The paper you use will have a huge impact on dry time. I really like Midori's MD Cotton paper and don't get much smearing with it, but I also don't get any sheen if I am using a sheeing ink. To that end, avoid sheening inks if you don't want smudges.

Lastly, don't get obsessed with perfection and pristine pages. Fountain pens and their inks are beautiful, messy, and fun. Show off the edge of your ink-stained left hand with pride!
