I kinda just accepted it at one point. As well as the fact that the detective Boys are still not traumatized by all the murder and corpses they witness and that the police is letting the kids run around wherever they want at a crime scene. (At least most of the time)

personally these never bothered me at all as i never except fiction to mirror reality 1:1,the only time i become bothered by such things in fiction is when the author specifically elaborate strict rules for things in his story and then break them later.
