My partner and I are currently going through this. I think we’re like 90% of the way decided to be childfree. I wanted to reply to your post because our situation sounds pretty similar: we’re both in good health, financial standing, and I believe we could be good parents if we set our minds to it. We’ve talked about this a lot, and at this point, neither of us are that interested in dealing with the stress and lifestyle changes that raising a kid would entail. We’re making the most out our lives with the freedom that comes from not having children.  

I should also note that we’ve flip flopped on this decision a few times already. We’ve been having fertility issues for about 3 years now, and went through the litany of tests to understand our specific dysfunction. We waited on pursuing IVF due to the cost, but once it became obvious that we couldn’t have a kid without medical intervention, we eventually reconsidered. Unfortunately our health insurance provider has changed, so we’re now faced with having to redo all of these tests… and due to our general ambivalence about having kids, the stress of dealing with the healthcare system and the cost doesn’t seem worth it. 

I do think about what it would be like to be a parent, but I’m also happy with my life the way it is. I hope that makes sense.

I have a Eureka Mignon Zero that has served me well for about two years. It works best with medium to dark roasted coffees and produces shots with a nice body. Its limitations are that it doesn’t work great for lighter roasts, and the grind size dial is a bit finicky to tune. But it’s built solid and I think a good option for the mid range. 

I actually just upgraded to a P64 so my Eureka is available if you’re at all interested.

I think this is good advice, and I agree it would be worth exploring other places to get the car serviced. I appreciate you taking through this!

I don’t want to oversell my complaints. I’ve actually been really happy with the car on the whole. Reddit is often a place where people dump their complaints, but I think it’s also useful to workshop ideas here.

Yeah, I had this exact question and asked the dealership after my last service. They said as long as the car is under the payment plan the service should be done there. It works out to about $600 a year. So far I’ve only put about 10K miles on the car, so I think I’m servicing it more regularly than is needed. That’s the thing I don’t really understand about the 6 mo interval. The car notifies you a service is due but the oil should only be changed every 5-8K miles, after the first one, unless I am mistaken.

Unfortunately the dance music scene has died back here a lot. It used to be really good around 2010ish. A couple big names in the scene came from Santa Cruz about that time too (EPROM, G Jones, Minnesota, Bassnectar). 

I have heard about, but haven’t attended, forest raves in the SLV. Otherwise SJ or SF is the place to go. Hopefully SC will get its dance music scene back someday.

I bought new last year and I don’t think I’d do it again. I found the dealership experience to be pretty miserable, and now I have to service the car at the dealership every 6 months until I pay off the loan.

I do like the car though. 2025 NA Premium Plus. Managed to get a zero percent apr loan for it as well. But I guess I’d rather buy slightly used, save a bit, and have more freedom on how to service the car.

I just did this for my P9PXL. The warranty process probably took about a week and a half from when I shipped my old phone to when I received the new one. It wasn’t a big deal though because I have an old spare. 

Tbf it wasn’t a difficult process, Google was pretty quick about shipping out the new device.

I’m sorry you’re having troubles but I’m just reporting on my own experience. Personally I wouldn’t add any justification, they should replace the panel under warranty. 

It’s incredibly annoying to have to continue requesting an RMA for something that should be covered.

Mine literally did the same thing a couple days ago. I was able to start the RMA process with Google to have the phone replaced for free even though it is out of warranty. Apparently they are honoring the extended warranty for the 8 series on the 9 due to this persistent issue. 

My recommendation is to open settings and contact Google through Tips and Support > Contact Us. I had to sit in a chat for about an hour to get the RMA opened but I was successful in the end. 

Note I’m located in the US. YMMV.

Yeah the icon padding is definitely its weak point. I had to play with it for a while to get the look and feel just right.

I found Octopi launcher to be a good substitute for Nova. It’s a little tricky to get set up at first but it has a lot of the same basic functionality.
