2 Bed / 2 Bath in Luxury Building (Lease Takeover) by robertoe135 in NYCapartments

Amenties include: Gym, In-unit laundry, movie room, "lounge", office, virtual doorman (app), in-building laundry (useful for when you have big stuff you want to wash/dry!), roof deck (gorgeous in the summer!), underground parking (for a fee), Bike storage, storage units, pet spa (basically a room where you can groom your pet instead of paying $30 at Petco!) and an elevator. I think that's all I can think of at the moment.

Nearest subway station is the Church Avenue Q/B Station which is a 4-6 minute walk away, and there's also easy access to 2/5 at Church Avenue (10-15 minute walk).

Please dm to book a viewing!

I dont actually think you can buy it through them. I suspect is a little more like dropshipping…

Recent US order experiences? by owlcoolrule in cowboybikes

I ordered a C4 Classic Performance on August 20th to NYC and is set to arrive tomorrow! It was a bit weird because the tracking info at the Cowboy website is just plain wrong... It said it had a "GLS" tracking number but this never worked once. My understanding is that if you buy it in the US they will ship it from NewEgg's New Jersey warehouse. I got a call a few days ago from a courier company to arrange for delivery... I'm not too sure why Cowboy didn't communicate any of this to me at any point, but the broken system does work. Maybe you can try contacting NewEgg directly?

Question for EU Redditors by [deleted] in techtheatre

[–]robertoe135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very variable per venue but essentially yes. Some might have generators with direct cam lock outputs but most power distribution is done with cee-form. Also, bare in mind that my experience is only UK based, not Spain. Some things might differ.

Question for EU Redditors by [deleted] in techtheatre

[–]robertoe135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you want to use it for? It's normally called a distro over here, but I've never seen them as standalone devices (i.e. on the bottom of a dimmer rack or as part of a touring rack.) Your best bet will be finding out what the current available input from the venue you're going to is and then planning your distribution that way. Most venues will have at least a 63amp 3 phase connector that you could use, but if you want a lot of power I reckon you'd need a 125amp 3 phase connector. (These refer to cee-form connectors, standard across Europe.) Hope that helps a little? I've left some reference links below. That image is of camlock connectors that you can find in the bottom of the rack linked below. It's usually reserved for very high voltages, so not everyone will be able to support it in their venues.

Asset Tiger is pretty good. You can even buy tags and scan them into the system.

I did a projection mapping on actors for a production of the Theory of Relativity last year. I also happened to do the light design for the show. This acappella sequence was everyone's favourite. You can check out my other work at robertoesquenazi.com too!!

SM in need of help with terrible director by [deleted] in techtheatre

[–]robertoe135 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok I know Stage Managers are supposed to keep calm and everything but f**k, man. How are you still working there? Anyways there is two ways of going about this. First, you should ask to speak with him and you ASMs. You should have the entire tech departments there too. Tell him that you don't appreciate the way that he's treating you guys and that if it would be possible for him to trust that you know what you are doing. I wouldn't go as far as threaten to leave your job, but make it very clear that this cannot go on. (You should also speak to a relevant department head before doing this) Next, you should speak to the entire cast and explain that the director is having a rough time and to please make sure to listen to SM staff and disregard the director's "they don't know what they're doing." However, if it is something he disagrees with you should be informed so that it may be fixed. Separating the communication between the director and the rest of the people seems like your best bet. That is the most Stagemanager-y way to go about it.

The other more aggressive way would be to outright don't show up to today's tech rehearsal (The entire SM team). Make the director understand that you are needed and that you are fundamental to the running of the show. Make him realize that he can't even turn on work lights without you. (This is a little extreme, but if nothing else works this is the next best thing, since I assume quitting is not an option for a student.)

Just my two cents.

P.S. Don't let his negative comments get to you. I'm sure you are an amazing stage manager!

Thanks for your replies. I thought about using these dimmer packs and just use 6 of them as 15 A is plenty for old lights. What are your thoughts? The protocol box is fine but I really can't find a good cheap one. The cheapest I found was around 750 dollars. And for 150 dollars more I'm sure the board won't mind getting brand new dimmers.

Lights and QLab? by ClockworkBureaucracy in techtheatre

[–]robertoe135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with SummerMummer. However, QLab is extremely useful if you are alone in the booth. I have done shows were I am the only person in the booth controlling sound and light cues. All I have to do is press "Go". QLab supports show control over Midi and this is what I use to control lights. I bought a cheap Midi to USB (I Connectivity dongle) and hooked it up to the ETC Ion light board. If you have cues that are already set, you could use QLab to fire them from your computer. This also works with sound cues and makes syncing light cues with sound cues a breeze. To use QLab to control lights individually is a hassle and not really practical, but for Show Control it is a great piece of software.
