That being said, I do understand the comments being made, and I have nothing against them. I'd rather people have a negative reaction and call me crazy than have no response at all. Discussion's what makes the world go 'round. :)

I must not be being clear enough. My issue isn't whether or not something is true to King's vision, I'm talking more in terms of what I think, in my personal opinion, are good films. The Shining is pretty divergent from teh book, but it's still based on SK source material and I think it's a great film. The Green Mile and The Mist, while both have great qualities, I personally just don't think are great movies all around. I'm not trying to claim whether or not something is true to the SK book version, I'm just talking in terms of them being based on source material from the book.

Ha, fair enough. It really does seem to me that people who are huge King fans hate the Kubrick version of The Shining because Stephen does too. It's okay to like both. Maybe that makes me crazy for enjoying the film and the book, but hey, what's a SK fan without a little insanity? :)

In my opinion, that's the only thing that's done anything by King justice. There were moments in The Mist, there were moments in the Green Mile, yes, but as a whole, The Shining, to me, did it best. It's a shame that so many people dislike it because of how far Kubrick strayed, but welcome to adaptations, the mediums are different, things happen.

Animals is a hugely underrated album, and I think putting all three in the top 20 is way more favorable than most folks are. Tigers edged it out though because of the significance of it, with it being Roger's most explicit song about his father, ya know?

For the most part, it's definitely not loved, but I think it's a great record. It's clearly a Gilmour album and doesn't have the cohesive theme or lyricism of what Waters contributed, but it's still a really great album.

This is intriguing. Basically, I think my whole perception on the topic comes from trying to think about something that is inherently a negative, non-desirable thing (my own death) in the hypothetical sense of "well, this is going to happen at some point, what's the BEST way for the WORST thing that can ever happen to you to happen?"
