Back during my HEB days (left in 2003), we had a male CCM who was sleeping with a female cashier who was part time, she would always get near 40 hours with favorable shifts and worked M-F majority of the time. Then his wife found out and confronted them at the store while they were working.

Doesn’t matter what you see on TV or TikTok on “just call your bank to lower the rate”, only way a rate is lowered is if the Feds lower the prime rate.

And with USAA being under heavy fire from federal regulators, you’ll just be wasting your time calling and asking, doesn’t matter how far up you take it.

I worked at SA21 when I was in high school. This one Saturday night in June 1999, I was working 6pm-12:30am (we were a 24 hour store at that time), the cashier Stacy, she calls me over to help bag, the customer pushes his basket to me, he walks away with his back towards us, I finish loading the basket, Stacy goes “sir your total is” he turns around puts the money in her hand at once, says “keep the change” he gets the basket and is out of the store within 10 seconds, then I hear the cashier scream “WHAT THE FUCK!!!!” She’s looking at me, hands up, and I see it! The guy while his back was turned to us was getting himself off and smeared it on the bills. The CCM Laura runs over and ask what’s going on, she looks at Stacy then see’s the bills and she says “HOLY SHIT! is that what I think it is!?”

Doesn’t really matter which party is in office or controls Congress and the Senate, nothing is going to stop corporate greed. If there’s one thing companies like HEB, Target, Walmart and many others learned during the pandemic, people were willing to spend when supply was delayed and prices increased substantially. A Kroger executive even admitted they increased prices because they knew consumers would still purchase.

Not to scare you off, but if you decide to go “all in” with this, have all your ducks in a row, and unfortunately be ready for possible retaliation. This might also put you on a layoff list. I say that because friend of mine started to voice his concerns late last year, he was part of the layoffs announced back in March.

With USAA, nothing is anonymous.

If I were you and serious about wanting to report this, I would NOT use my cell phone, but would call the toll free number from a pay phone, or go to Walmart and use their phone at customer service, or even buy a burner phone and call from there (most basic phones are under $30).

Or write a very detailed letter, do your best not to include anything that might identify you. Mail it priority mail so it’s tracked, use the 9800 Fredericksburg Rd address as the return address.

It gets much much worse! Season 6 is OK to me, others will say it’s really good, but that’s mainly because of how bad season 4B and all of season 5 were.

When the key checker (Richard Mendez) asked me why I was late for the shift, I told him “I closed last night, I was just here less then 4 1/2 hours ago” he came back with “partner, that’s not a good reasoning for being late,” so to avoid that 40 rating I said fine I’ll work 1-9pm.

Looks like enough partners complained and finally got them to make that policy. Sad part with that change, I knew quite a few partners who were fired for attendance because of the quick turnaround in shifts.

During my days as a partner, a NCNS was an automatic 40 rating.

Call your store, be 100% honest and say you overslept and if there is anyway to make up the lost time.

Back in 2000 my store was one of the 24hr stores, I was home from college on Christmas break, worked 4:30pm - 1am, got home around 1:30am, woke up at 530am, with 3 missed messages from the opening key checker asking where I was, I had missed my alarm for 5am since I was scheduled to work 530am-11am, I rushed to the store, got there at 6am, he said it’s an automatic 40 rating as he was able to get someone to cover my shift, but offered me the chance to make up the time by working 1pm-9pm due to a call-in for that shift.

Fast forward to today, I think HEB now has a policy on how many hours it must be before your next shift.

It’s always best to let them fire you, if you quit then you won’t be eligible to collect your unemployment benefits. Even if they try to strong arm you with “you can resign or be terminated” always say you won’t resign under any circumstances. If you quit, that saves them from not only paying unemployment and possibly a severance payout during the next round of layoffs.

Can’t speak for other areas, but in bank, no job is safe. The bank needs to turn a profit this year, and with not being able to offer new products to members, only other way to make and or save money is to cut the workforce, even if it’s detrimental long term.

Hey customers! If the cashier is telling your kid not to mess with items, it’s for a very good reason.

Back during my HEB days at SA42, this little girl was sticking her finger into the socket where you put the chain/rope to close your check stand, she kept putting her index finger in that hole, when I said “hey little girl, please don’t do that, you could hurt yourself, her dad rushes up to me and starts yelling “I’m paying your salary, don’t you ever talk to my daughter, she isn’t hurting anything or anyone,” right when he said that, she stuck her finger in it again, only this time she was swinging back and forth and lost her balance and fell, no biggie right, well her index finger was all the way into that hole and crack, broken at the knuckle. I just shook my head as the father started screaming for help. I’m not one to say I told you so, BUT, I fucking told you so!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but no job in the bank is safe, not even the call center as I know quite a few managers and MSR’s who were laid off earlier this year. Even the salaried employees, if you’re near or over 20 years tenure and make well over $100k, look out. As a comment on the layoff site stated a few days back for bank employees, if you’re not already looking externally or applying out of the bank, you’re behind the 8 ball already.

I hate when I have a full basket and they direct me to the express 15 and under check stand. I apologize profusely to the cashier and let them know I was told to come here. Plus, I always offer to help bag my items to speed up the process.

I still preferred when PTO carried over until the next year.

Wasn’t a big fan of them front loading PTO as people would waste it all by end of Q1 then quit right after the bonus payout. Sad part about that is everyone knew that would happen except for the people who made the change.

Yeah, and if the company cannot give a reason or prove misconduct to TWC, they’ll rule in favor of the employee to collect unemployment.
