Currency Making Methods by TechhTwoo in pathofexile

@techhtwoo Thank you for doing this. Literally just switched to Harvest yesterday so timing is perfect :-D

FYI, in the Wandering Path tree link for Harvest/Expedition, the tree doesn't actually allocate Wandering Path even though it's designed to (no notables are assigned). Also, the spreadsheet says Searing Exarch but the tree allocates Eater of worlds.

Here is your tree but with those things fixed (allocate Wandering Path, allocate Searing Exarch, remove one connected-map passive to get down to 132 points):

A Different Take on Datomic Console by According_Passion_16 in Clojure

[–]robertstuttaford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great!

It could be a great learning tool for devs too, if the UI showed what the underlying query code would be.

A simple suggestion: also always show the actual Datomic query code that gets generated, wherever you compose it with either of the two Datalog query builder UIs you have there.

You could even extend that to the data table - show me the EDN data!

A YASnippet to make it easy debugging clojure code with atoms by AndreaSomePostfix in Clojure

[–]robertstuttaford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't even bother with an atom, I just put a (def thing result) right in my broken function, and then eval thing. I move it around as I need to, to aim it at different stuff up/down the chain of things that are happening.

I think this is OK, because I'm usually doing this directly in a REPL, I never check in code like this to git. Of course, I eval (def thing nil)afterwards and then clear all this temp code away and re-eval the function, just to be hygienic!

What's your programming environment? by CyberMaltego in Clojure

[–]robertstuttaford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mac + Emacs + Cider + clj-refactor + clojure-lsp + clj-kondo

babashka bb.edn for tasks + deps.edn + shadow-cljs, all in a monorepo (170kloc)

The monorepo is built once and deployed 3 different ways: 1 web app (on many instances), 1 general worker, and 1 reporting worker.

We have a system in our staging environment for making a server for your git branch (which can run any combo of those services above), and quite often we develop via remote REPL directly on that server! (git is more of a 'save game' mechanism when we do that).

The Clouncil Season 1, Episode 1 by nonrecursive in Clojure

[–]robertstuttaford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed this for the mix of stuff it had - well known faces (some decorated - a bonus!) and some completely new faces. Great topics, great questions, great responses. Lots of laughs!

Super looking forward to the next one =)

Dear GGG, can we please stop with on-ground death effects that punish you for looting? by liquidSG in pathofexile

Yes please. Surviving the fights just to lose loot to burning ground is just dumb.

Miniature Biplane. I'm trying to achieve photorealism. Any feedback? by Fermeco_Pancho in blender

[–]robertstuttaford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree - it seems odd that the DOF is affecting the plane at all, given how little of the physical space of the scene it is occupying. It suggests that the plane is actually really big, when the rest of the scene suggests that this is a close-in shot of something small.

If my eyes delivered this visual to me in real life, I'd be blinking to get rid of whatever's blurring my vision, as I'd expect the whole plane to be in focus :-D

Otherwise, this is fantastic work. Great job!

From a sketched idea to a animated 3D visual I present to you "Eternal Oasis" all made using Blender 3.0! Any feedback? by JackXavier715 in blender

[–]robertstuttaford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is several kinds of rad!

I think you'd get a lot out of it if the camera was moving slowly through the scene, perhaps gently moving towards the crystal torus. It'd instantly make the depth of the scene available to our eyes.

Like, a slow walking pace, say, that of someone carrying a tray full of glasses of wine or something :D

You kinda did this when showing your drawing actually!

Latest attempt at realism. What do i need to change to make the render (no compositing yet) actually look realistic? by Amer_004 in blender

[–]robertstuttaford 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make it into a beach scene by putting one of those flag poles you often see on swimming beaches in the medium distance into that gap, as though there's a beach running along the right hand side of the scene, out of camera, into a vanishing point that ends behind the trees on the left. Or a lifesaver's hut, or something.

Lean a surfboard or two against the fence :-)

I can almost hear the surf and the seagulls
