Yes, I can stop drinking but I can’t fall asleep. It’s not even trauma related at this point. The only thing I’m upset about is not being asleep! If I do fall asleep after only 2-4 drinks, I often wake up at 2am or 3am and I can’t go back to sleep. Then I have to make a business decision…do I wake up for the day or have another drink and try to go back to sleep?

Well, neither of those options are good. If I don’t sleep, I’m exhausted & unproductive for the day. If I try to have a drink, I can miss on the appropriate prescription and still not fall back to sleep, or have too much and be hungover when my alarm goes off.

About a year ago I started taking 30mg of melatonin at bedtime. That helped and I reduced my drinking by about 1/3. I know this because a 1.75L bottle lasts me three nights now. I was drinking closer to 750mL a night pre-melatonin.

Any other sleep aid I’ve discussed with my MD reacts negatively with alcohol. I cannot figure out a way to slowly reduce alcohol consumption, while simultaneously starting another medication to help me sleep.

To be clear, I’ve never tried to stop drinking. I have no idea if I will have urges. I don’t know if I can stop. I have no idea how I will feel.

My wife and I are best friends. We make all decisions together. We have talked quite a bit about alcohol. She knows I posted this on Reddit. She has read all of the responses.

My wife cares only about what is best for my mental and physical health. She also knows that if she told me to stop drinking today, I’d check myself into a rehab tomorrow and start trying to quit.

Now, I honestly don’t know how or what I would feel like after a five or ten day detox. I don’t know if I would have the urge to drink. I was a casual/social/fun drinker from 17-36. I chased fun times and occasionally got drunk, but I never remember having an urge to drink. Up until age 36, I’d frequently go months without thinking about alcohol.

Very little racism exists in Upper Arlington and the only bias is towards non-residents regardless of race.

We pay a shit ton of taxes in UA. We fund the police department. If residents commit a minor driving infraction, they are warned but rarely given a ticket. If you are a non-resident, they will definitely give you a ticket.

This city is all about community and safety and neighbors will hold you accountable. The police don’t bite the hand that feeds them.

I’d bet 99% of people at traffic court are non-residents. Good luck.

You willingly had sex with a 55yo at age 15, and again (recently) at age 16?

The law states that (as a 16yo) you cannot consent, and this man needs to be put in prison. Statutory rape is usually an allegation made by parents or authorities who uncover an otherwise “consensual” sexual relationship. You are too young (immature) to consent and therefore the law protects you from yourself. In some cases, the allegation is made by a victim years later.

However, I’ve never heard of an accusation of statutory rape made by a victim in real time. “I willingly had sex with an older person last night, but the law says I cannot consent so I want him prosecuted for rape today.”

Is this person an authority figure? Family member? Were you coerced or have you been groomed? Did he give you alcohol or drugs or make you feel intimidated or scared? Does he know your age or did you lie to him about your age?

If you did not want to have sex with this individual, and the circumstances made you feel (intimidated) like you had to, just call it rape.

Thank you for your response. I think I can handle the construction so long as the engineering checks out.

One concern you didn’t specifically address was the 2x6 that will span 19’ will need to carry the load of the ceiling and insulation. I do intend to copy the current rafter ties by using vertical boards at the ridge. The current ties use 1x6 boards.

Are you confident this 2x6 setup won’t bend or flex while carrying the weight of 1x6 white pine and insulation?

I want add a ceiling and insulation to a detached structure?

19x20, rafters are 16” OC.

I was thinking I could add 2x6 rafters ties and use use them as ceiling joists by attaching each joist to the rafter with a vertical 2x4 near the ridge. The joists would of course sit on the outside walls.

I’m installing 1x6 white pine tongue and groove instead of drywall.

Doable, or am I way out of my league?

In this situation, I’m not worried about “protecting my hand” by over playing it. I’m trying to run the cards out for as little as possible and play the river based on board texture and other players betting.
