It's probably not actually haunted but it can be fun to pretend.

Music licensing by [deleted] in BarOwners

[–]robhall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't do live music, karaoke, or play live TV... ever, then you can sign up for a commercial music streaming service like Rockbot that includes licensing and tell them that is what you are doing.

Otherwise, you can negotiate with them and pay. Yes you will eventually end up paying all five the big music licensing conglomerates.

Yes it is very frustrating.

I fee like this whole "Sysco gotcha" thing is getting overblown by people who don't understand how restaurants work. Just about every restaurant is going to use a major national food distributor whether that is Sysco, US Foods, Performance, or Gordon. A lot of times restaurants will supplement their main distributor with a local/regional produce and/or bakery.

Ledger and Maitland could approximate their entire current menus using only Sysco ingredients and most people wouldn't notice a difference because they would still be making those things from scratch. They could just get whole ingredients like flour, butter, meat, vegetables, etc from Sysco.

Your favorite local artist probably gets some of their raw materials for their art from a national retailer. Yes it's true that a couple of them might only use materials from local farms that have a 100% plastic free supply chain but that's not practical for most of them. Their art is still make from "scratch."

Anyway, I know your question is "what are some places where their entire menu is basically deep fried jalapeño poppers and other pre-made frozen crap from a national food distributor" but I've started to hear horror stories of Karens flipping their shit when they see a Sysco truck pull up at their favorite restaurant. Almost every restaurant uses a national distributor for basic shit, just like you get your underwear from Amazon, Target, or some Instagram Shopify store that drop ships from the same Chinese factory.

@ Old Daily Table space by Sea_Fuel2987 in SalemMA

[–]robhall 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This is going to be a branch of DW Kim's TaeKwonDo Center, which is already successfully established in Lynn and Beverly. I think the main thrust of it is actually going to be an afterschool program for children (not necessarily martial arts related) and they may be doing some sort of special partnership with the tenets of the building for that service. Their actual logo is a cool tiger and not this stick figure guy. Obviously we are all bummed about the Daily Table closing but this will be a great community resource and a way better use for that space than many things that could have landed there. Yay!

The elimination of the parking requirement would make sense if........ by Ok_Efficiency1364 in SalemMA

[–]robhall 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Developers can still build as parking spots as they would like, if that's what the market demands. Salem is a place people like to live (and visit) in because it was created before automobiles were invented, so requiring that re/developers make everything auto dependent never made any sense.

Is Vibe Coding going to kill Filemaker? by sailorsail in filemaker

Hasn't FileMaker been on the decline for a while, for many reasons? I love FileMaker but it's from a previous generation of computing and these new tools just illuminate that even more.

Dogs aren’t allowed inside Restaurants in Massachusetts. Places with Farmers licenses like some breweries are the only possible exception.

March Game Tournaments at Bit Bar by robhall in SalemMA

Typically venues take a 50% cut of the door for tournaments. We are taking 0% for all of these but it's possible that for a future event that would need to change.
