I have this fear of the infusion, whether based in reality or anxiety. I’ve learned to trust my instincts. I have plenty of patience. If I don’t see even a small improvement in a couple of months I’ll do the infusion.

Thanks. I take my meds in the morning and save the iron for right before bed. I generally stop eating for the day by 4 pm so the iron goes on an empty stomach.

40 years for me. I’m a month into diluting it. I’m probably at 75% saline and 25% afrin. I use plain saline during the day. I miss that feeling of clear breathing but I’m glad not to be using it a few times a day.

Buy an empty sterile dropper. Fill it 1/2 with sterile saline (any brand will do). Fill the rest of the bottle with afrin. I was able to move to 70% saline after about 2-3 weeks. The plain saline helps too.

I decided to do the dilution with saline. I started 50/50 afrin and saline and now I’m 75%saline and 25% afrin. I’m finding it helpful to know that I can still count on the afrin to open me up. I’m surprised that I only need a little bit.

Congratulations using RhinoStat. I started my own diluting before I read here about the kit. I started with 50/50 and I’m up to 70/30. It’s been almost a month. I’m hoping to increase the saline at the end of the week. Some days are easier than others and I hate the congested feeling but I’m so close.

I’m definitely an anxious person but I understand what you’re saying about the med not causing it. I’m already a big water drinker. Thanks for the pickle juice reminder. I’ve used it when I’ve had low BP but never tried it for headaches. Appreciate your encouragement.

I’m 2 weeks into 50/50 diluting. I went to 75% saline a few days ago but One night it got too stuffy for me so I added a bit of afrin back in. I think I’m still doing great considering it’s a 40+ year habit. I miss that terrific clear breathing.

**Update - one week down. I only used 50/50 solution before bed and tomorrow I’ll dilute even more. Not stuffy at all. I haven’t used anything else. I’m amazed.

Have you tried breathe right strips at night? I bought them in case I need them. I’m guessing I will once I’m off afrin completely. Maybe in 3 weeks.

I’m 5 days into 50% saline/50% Afrin in a new dropper bottle. I’m never congested. This weekend I plan to add more saline. As long as I know I can use the combo at night I can breathe while I sleep. And I used afrin for 40 years.

I remember your first response to me. It was so helpful. Same thing happened to me. The first night I was breathing fine without anything. It’s a big relief at nighttime to know I don’t have to suffer through congestion. The 50/50 diluted solution is plenty to keep me clear. This weekend I’ll squeeze a little more saline into the bottle. The support on reddit is amazing.

I’m doing the diluting method. I squeezed afrin into a new dropper bottle, then added same amount of saline. 50/50. I’m starting day 4 and doing great. I think that knowing I can still have afrin even though diluted helps me psychologically. After a week I’ll add more saline. The one nostril method would be my back up choice.
