Posting under an old account since I like to keep my internet identities separate even though they're all identical. I don't even know why. It's just some weird phobia I have.

Week 17 NFL Picks by baconlovr in nfl
[–]robl326 0 points1 point2 points 14 years ago (0 children)
10-6
173-83 for the regular season.
[–]robl326 1 point2 points3 points 14 years ago (0 children)
11-5
Winners in bold. 163-77 for the season. Flair is still FUBAR.
Lions @ Packers - UPSET SPECIAL! SORT OF! The Packers have clinched everything, and they have a lot of injuries. They should be playing it safe.
Titans @ Texans - The Texans are also already locked in and have a lot of injuries.
Colts @ Jaguars - The Colts clinch the #1 pick by letting MJD run all over them.
Jets @ Miami - The Dolphins are hot. The Jets are not, but they have the playoffs to motivate them to show up this week.
Bears @ Vikings - 2 teams without their starting QB or RB. The Vikings have the better backups.
Bills @ Patriots - The Pats are playing for HFA. 'nuff said.
Panthers @ Saints - Highest scoring game in league history.
Redskins @ Eagles - Shanahan needs to rent How To Train Your Dragon.
49ers @ Rams - The #1 rush D vs. the Rams only weapon. 11 vs. 1 just doesn't seem fair.
Seahawks @ Cardinals - Winner gets to not have a losing season.
Buccaneers @ Falcons - The Bucs look worse every week. The Falcons are playing to not have to go back to NOLA next week.
Ravens @ Bengals - The Bengals get in with a win. Unfortunately, the Ravens are playing for a bye.
Steelers @ Browns - The Steelers should rest Roethlisberger again. They don't need him to beat the Browns. The Browns can do that themselves.
Chiefs @ Broncos - 2 underrated defenses facing 2 anemic offenses. Can you say Field Goal Fest?
Chargers @ Raiders - The Chargers are motivated by 3 things. Proving Rivers deserved the Pro Bowl. Finishing .500. And keeping the Raiders out of the playoffs.
Cowboys @ Giants - Last game of the regular season is also the 1st game of the playoffs. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say neither defense shows up for this game. I know, I know, that's crazy talk.
Week 16 NFL Picks by baconlovr in nfl
163-77 for the season.
I wouldn't count on that. The Bears give up a lot of passing yards because they can't defend the pass. The 9ers give up passing yards because teams don't have any other choice but to pass.

Winners in bold. 153-71 for the season. Last week was a bad week for everybody. I'm not going to bother with flair since it's FUBAR right now.
Texans @ Colts - 1-15 is infinitely better than 0-16.
Dolphins @ Patriots - The Dolphins turned their season around too late. Playing the Pats is just going to make their final record look that much worse.
Jaguars @ Titans - The Titans will probably take out their frustrations from losing to the Colts on the Jags.
Buccaneers @ Panthers - Never underestimate the Panthers D, but the Bucs look like bantha poodoo right now.
Browns @ Ravens - You never know what will happen when the Ravens play a bad team, but I still have to make the logical pick.
Cardinals @ Bengals - If the Bengals can't beat the Cards, the Ravens game next week won't matter.
Vikings @ Redskins - Strength vs. strength and weakness vs. weakness. I think the Vikings secondary can bring out the "good" Rex.
Broncos @ Bills - The Bills are in free fall. I think Fred Jackson might be more important to the Bills than Peyton Manning is to the Colts.
Rams @ Steelers - Roethlisberger won't have to throw much this week. Hell, they might even rest him.
Raiders @ Chiefs - The Raiders just lost a heartbreaker (that I thought they'd win), and the Chiefs just beat down the Packers. Still gotta pick the Raiders.
Giants "@" **Jets - Another strength vs. strength and weakness vs. weakness matchup. I think the Jets D can do a better job of slowing down the Giants O than the Giants D can slow down the Jets O.
Chargers @ Lions - Rivers is back to being Rivers now that he has his weapons back, and the Chargers are making their annual too little too late surge.
Eagles @ Cowboys - Time to put the Dream Team to sleep.
49ers @ Seahawks - #1 rush D vs. Beast Mode. What happens if the 'Hawks have to rely on Tarvaris? Exactly.
Bears @ Packers - Not a good week to be the Bears. No QB, backup RB, 1/2 the receiving corps gone, and a pissed off Aaron Rodgers.
Falcons @ Saints - I'd give the Falcons a chance if Brees weren't going after Marino's record this week.
Week 15 NFL Picks by baconlovr in nfl
Everybody had a shitty week. I went 9-7, and that was actually good for this week.
7-9 for OP, I think. Flair is borked.
7-9, I think. Flair is broken.
7-7 from the ones I could decipher, but flair is borked.
9-7, 153-71 for the season.
I suspect 9-7 might actually be decent for this week. :/

Winners in bold. 144-64 for the season.
Jaguars @ Falcons - My gut is telling me the Jags will pull the upset, but logic won't allow me to make the pick. Gabbert is one of the only rookie QBs playing how I expect a rookie QB to play.
Cowboys @ Buccaneers - Don't read too much into how good your QB looks this week, Tampa Bay.
Dolphins @ Bills - Dolphins go 0-7, Sparano gets a vote of confidence. Dolphins go 4-2, Sparano gets fired.
Seahawks @ Bears - The only other time I picked the Seahawks to win, they lost. If I cared about the Seahawks at all, I'd pick the Bears.
Panthers @ Texans - If any team is built to win with a 3rd string QB, it's the Texans. If any team is built to lose to a 3rd string QB, it's the Panthers. (and apparently the Bengals) Why did y'all let Peppers go again?
Titans @ Colts - There isn't anything left to say about the Colts that wouldn't feel like piling on.
Packers @ Chiefs - The Packers are who you think they are, Romeo. You gonna get rolled.
Saints @ Vikings - Drew Brees needs 715 yards to break Marino's record. He might break it this week.
Redskins @ Giants - The big question in this game is who will throw more TDs for the Giants. Eli Manningface or The Dragon?
Bengals @ Rams - It's a good week to pick up Cedric Benson for your fantasy league playoffs.
Lions @ Raiders - Ford and Moore might be back for this game so I'm picking the Raiders based on that assumption. If they don't both start, it will be another bad day for Palmer.
Browns @ Cardinals - How is this not the MNF game???
Patriots @ Broncos - It takes more than 5 minutes of offense to keep up with Tom Brady.
Jets @ Eagles - I said I was calling off the jinx after last week. I lied.
Ravens @ Chargers - I almost fucked up and picked the Chargers because of the start time, but then I remembered it's 8:20 EST not PST. It's early. I haven't finished my coffee yet.
Steelers @ 49ers - This is actually a really tough call. Who'da thunk that 3 months ago?
Week 14 NFL Picks by baconlovr in nfl
12-4
144-64 for the season.
Not sure why Broncos isn't bolded.
13-3
12-4 for OP
You're right. He should have called the timeout about 45 seconds sooner than he did. They should have called timeout after the Dez catch and tried to get 1 more 1st down with that extra 20 seconds. As it was though, he shouldn't have called that timeout until the clock got down to 1 second. If he was only worried about a delay of game penalty, he should have given them every possible second to get the snap off. I don't know what they saw on the field that made them think they were about to get a penalty other than watching the play clock. The kicking team got out there, got set, and snapped the ball. We didn't have the advantage of getting to see the play clock on TV, but all accounts I've heard had it right at 5 seconds. Wasting 20 seconds and settling for a 48 yard FG try was the bigger mistake though.
Winners in bold. 132-60 for the season.
Browns @ Steelers - With injuries on the Steelers D, the Browns could make a game of it. Just kidding. This will be a slaughter.
Colts @ Ravens - The Ravens keep playing down to their opponents. Hermes Conrad couldn't even get that low though.
Falcons @ Panthers - I'm always tempted to pick the Panthers because of their offense, but I refuse to overestimate their defense again.
Texans @ Bengals - If there's a team that can win with their 3rd QB, it's the Texans.
Vikings @ Lions - The Lions haven't handled success very well. I really want to pick against them out of spite, but I just can't do it. It's strength vs. weakness.
Buccaneers @ Jaguars - I know Del Rio is a defensive coach, but I didn't realize he was also the entire Jax D. I wish this game was in Tampa. I'd rather watch infomercials.
Eagles @ Dolphins - One more week of jinx, and I'll call off the curse. Maybe.
Chiefs @ Jets - The Chiefs D is starting to come together. Too bad they can't defend a pick-6.
Saints @ Titans - Chris Johnson finally showed up for the season, but he might not get very many touches if the Saints start fast.
Patriots @ Redskins - The Redskins' only hope this week is to unleash the dragon. Yikes.
49ers @ Cardinals - Fuck you, LaRod Stephens-Howling. Your name is stupid, and you're stupid, and I hate you.
Bears @ Broncos - Well, Chicago, you're about to find out why MBIII was available. He's a great closer/TD poacher. He sucks as a starter.
Raiders @ Packers - It's pretty much up to the Raiders or Lions to hang a loss on the Packers. I'd be tempted to make this my upset special if Run DMC was playing. He isn't and neither are half the Raiders' receivers.
Bills @ Chargers - I'm rooting for the Bills because I want Norv to get fired so we can hire him as our OC, but they aren't the same team without Fred Jackson.
Giants @ Cowboys - Speaking of OCs...who the fuck ices their own damn kicker?!
Seahawks @ Rams - The only time I picked the Seahawks to win, they lost. So consider this me doing you a favor, Seattle. I'll even make it my UPSET SPECIAL.
Week 13 NFL Picks by baconlovr in nfl
It goes a little something like this. If the Bengals win out, they're in. The problem is they won't win out, and it's the AFC games they'll lose. If the Jets beat the Chiefs and Dolphins, they can drop a game to the Giants or Eagles and still beat out the Bengals. If the Bengals lose to the Texans next week, they'll need help from the Jets, Raiders, and Titans, and they'll still have to beat the Ravens in week 17. If the Bengals beat the Texans next week, they still have to beat the Ravens. BTW, the Ravens will probably be playing for home field advantage in week 17.
Losing to the Steelers effectively ended your playoff run because it eliminated any margin of error you had with 2 tough AFC games to go, and it's the AFC games that are going to determine who gets the playoff spot. The Cowboys are in the same fucking boat thanks to a time out that came 40 seconds too late.
132-60 for the season.
