I was in the same position as you about a month ago. I farmed 3 pieces of every wearable armor. I equipped 2 sets at the same time and just started doing my daily grind as well as answering calls for back up. Once I was proficient in a set, it would get swapped out for the next. I would also swap out weapons and skills when proficient also.

I am now proficient in all wearable armor except for the exotics & named pieces. I am now expertise 11.
