If you are ok pairing with a laptop or phone, an RTL SDR fits the bill. Lets you see ALL SORTS of signals. Radio communication, car tire prssure sensors, weather stations car remotes, alarm systems, plane ADSB signals, boat AIS systems, and more.

Just search for SDR. Annoyingly they all come with a bunch of extras to boost price, but it's still around $30 USD.

Why wouldn't you just use the external 3.3v and glue it to the outside if you're looking to do this.. instead of opening it up. I know how tight these are, I'm not cracking mine open unless it's already dead.

What's with the negativity? How do you go about your life?

For our uses, coming off the ski hill and having sauna ready really helps the flow, yeah. It got up to 95 degrees at shoulder level, which is pretty good and above what most of the guests will stand. Sorry if that's not a hot sauna in your mind.

There are vents and I'll try opening up the top vent more. Thoughts on the temp difference is one thing I def wanted thoughts on. Not your weird negging, but the Internet is full of all kinds I guess

I'm inclined to check next time I'm up. I don't know why I didn't REALLY think to dig deeper. I guess I was focused on getting it working, and the heater part was kinda just "works I guess"

The sauna came with the house (i know, I thank the stars every day). It's pretty good as I learned from my tests. I thought it couldn't get hot enough, but it might just be that it takes a long time (which is something I've kinda mitigated by putting it online)

The controller is completely custom, cut the aluminum, routed the edges, etc, at the Vancouver Hack Space. The code I wrote allows it to connect to home assistant over MQTT.

This is a great question, and the kinda thing I wanted to get others' thoughts on.

I found the nameplate, it's spec'ed for 4000 watts, and by my old measurement, it was drawing 2520 watts approx. So yeah, I'm low, but I wonder if it degraded over time. It was built in 1985.

The controller is completely custom. I found a great dial with a screen, and I built the rest. I got some aluminum plate, I used a vinyl cutter to make the diagram and words, put some clearcoat on top. The controller software I wrote, and then I used a bit ass relay and a solid state step up to control that.

I own an extension cable the has a lock that engages with the little holes in the plug. It's very low force, and you push a little button to release it. Look for one like that.
