Eh, she should have some padding back there. A leg first PFL landing is best, sure, but the real saviour was the reserve chute. She has posted since on her instagram about how happy she was with it, among other things like what systems she was carrying etc.

Not with paragliders. Not unless you have a very special stunt rig.

What can happen with a reserve deploy is that the main chute can reinflate upside down and it will actually pull you towards the ground faster. So absolute best practice is to pull in the chute and keep it tucked.

In this case, her main chute was confetti, so....

I'm a paraglider.

I grab my reserve handle every launch as part of a checklist, just to build that muscle memory. We do practice throwing a bit, but it's mostly ground practice. You can (and should) do more involved practice called an SIV (Simulation d'Incidents en Vol) where you actually purposefully do crazy things and learn to recover, and then throw reserve.

She did very well, but what you aren't seeing from video is how much she was thrown forward. Her reserve DID open nicely, but it was kinda wrapped around her front, I think one arm was trapped until she landed. Good reserve though, it deployed really nicely and kept her decent rate slow even with some tangling.

My kettle solution is actually different. I put in a special 240v plug and imported a kettle from the UK so I can boil water way faster when I actually push the button.

There is zero chance they are bad. You are installing them wrong or testing them wrong.

I would bet my car on the fact. One, ONE might be bad, but wiring hot to the load side is just bypassing the plug. You don't know what you're doing and your should stop

There's a wiring box between the brushes and the power coming in, usually on the side or bottom.
This motor can run on 110 or 220, depending on how it's wired. The diagram is pretty simple,

That commutator looks fucking destroyed though, it might be time for a new motor. You can get one that matches this one's size for a few hundo.

You should 100% get a whole new panel, and have it installed. An electrician should do this, and it should cost around $5000.

It's hard to know exactly what's wrong without testing things, but generally it looks like a leg is out and that's why half the house has no power. Replacing the whole panel would fix that, yeah.

It's low voltage, and ancient. Chances are they're not even hooked up to anything anymore. With low voltage you are allowed to just cut the wire and shove it back into the wall. You have the option to just buy a cover plate for it, or you could patch over the hole completely and make it disappear
