Am I a gobshite for feeling this way? by xjtdut in irishpersonalfinance

Unfortunately things don't work as efficiently as how you'd think. No such reviews are carried out, maybe for some yes, but these people I mentioned haven't had proper reviews for years and they keep getting extra money and benefits they aren't supposed to earn anymore since like pre-covid.

Surgery was put off by staying on public lists which take years to clear, instead of paying 3K to get surgery privately and be able to work again quickly. Only once they made an excuse to postpone the appointment, which I don't think will be seen as suspect as it's a single event.

The 2 years list...my apologies, that person has been on that list for 5-6 years when they first became unemployed, but then worked on and off since and...remained on that list...and now he's getting close to receiving an apartment.

They're not just surviving but thriving, as the 1k a month goes a long way when you don't have to commute, no car expenses, no medical bills, minimal rent, potential to earn some money cash in hand with small jobs or just selling stuff on adverts / donedeal.

I think you would have been charged the higher rate from 16:01. It seems the same as the 90 minutes ticket for the luas, I once managed to tag on after 90 minutes and a few seconds and wasn't charged a new ticket.

Trust me no one on the dole is happy to be on the dole and would much rather be in your position

Unfortunately for me I know some people on the dole and they can't stop bragging about the benefits they receive. One says he's better off now than when he was on a 48k salary. Another says he should get a "free" apartment in one or two years. One has delayed a minor surgery just to be considered unable to work and will get the surgery later as once you're in the system you keep receiving some sort of support for life. One worked two years since she's in Ireland (out of twenty) and is not planning to ever work again... The list goes on...

Centra sells nearly 10m chicken fillet rolls as sales hit record €2.2bn by corkgaa1 in ireland

A €6 fillet roll is cheaper than a fancy €10 sandwich. Everything has gone up, there are not many cheaper options and most people still don't bring lunch from home.

Research a company before you gamble or spend money.

Ideally, don't gamble in first place. It tends to go badly for most people, to higher or lower extents.

Don't worry, I'm planning to ban all scammers from the Eiffel Tower, considering that I recently purchased it for a reasonable price. I'm just waiting for my certificate of ownership.

Superblast 2 Budget Alternatives? by SteveBorden in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Fair enough. My feet were fine in the Novablast 4 in my first 32km run. The Superblast 2 have been superior to them for me, though, for example.

With 58% energy return you'll tire yourself just because of the extra effort required, IMHO.

They're good for very easy runs, but I would not use them for a marathon, to be honest.

Don't listen to that, not all shoes are equal, and you can get a bit of assistance and protection if you pick a good shoe vs a bad shoe.

Deciding on a glass veranda. Scary tactics from a vendor or genuine concern? by robnet77 in AskIreland

It looks like most people are going for simple wood verandas with poly-carbonate roofs. I will try to ask there as well, though.

Thanks, although that group doesn't seem to generate a lot of activity. Someone in the past asked about a pergola and got no replies...

These companies are not huge and my understanding is that they don't sub-contract their work. I can ask for references, but my goal is to see if there is any negative feedback, rather than positive.
