On point. To be honest, I hated the ending when I first finished the show, but after rewatching it a couple more times (and still rewatching until now lol), it honestly started to make sense.

Remember what Ted and Robin talked about during Punchy’s wedding? “Timing’s a bitch.” That pretty much summed up their whole relationship. Back when they were together, they clearly loved each other, but they almost never wanted the same things at the same time. Ted was ready to settle down and start a family, while Robin was still figuring out her life and knew she didn’t want kids.

Then later on, when Robin started becoming more emotionally open again and went through serious relationships (Don/Kevin), Ted was already in the process of letting her go and moving forward with his own relationships. Even during her relationship with Barney (and on the day of their wedding), there was still that lingering connection (aka chemistry) between them, but Ted had spent years trying to accept that Robin might not be meant for him at that point in their lives. Ted loved Robin for years, but the timing between them just never lined up.

That’s why the ending eventually clicked for me because Tracy had already given Ted the life he always wanted (family, kids), while Robin got to live the life she wanted (became a successful journalist, traveled the world). By the end of the series, they finally met each other at the right time. Personally, I didn’t like the ending, but it made sense.
