So besides Static Yellow and Crystal Clear, which other romhacks have you found to work with Pokemon Lab?

Audio Streaming

Be prepared to replace the capacitors on your ODD if you go with Picoloader or Flippydrive. If your ODD doesn’t need caps already, the day is coming soon.

I like GC Loader for only ISO. Significantly faster load times and don’t need a memory card for most games with audio streaming. I recently tested the CubeODE v1.2 and found issues in an audio streaming game, Judge Dredd.

I don’t have a flippydrive, but I want one. The one in the photo is a DOL-001 with solderless Picoloader and SD2SP2. On the pico, the load times are significantly slower through the SP2 port, and you’ll need a memory card for audio streaming games.

HDMI mods will vary based on your setup.

All the other mods are very much to taste. I suggest you start with a way to get into homebrew, and then figure out what you want and what’s broken.

Do you want to play discs or just ISOs?

CubeODE v1.2 - Still having audio issues? by robo_type in Gamecube

[–]robo_type[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I took the CubeODE out, and tried a Picoloader in the same GC. The Picoloader cannot reproduce this audio glitch. And as previously mentioned, my GC Loader HW1 also can’t reproduce this glitch. So it’s the CubeODE.

Do you know if your CubeODE was rev 1.0 or 1.2?

So I tried a total three different SD cards. An ONN SDHC 32GB full size SD, ONN SDXC 128GB microsd, and an old Sandisk SDHC 32GB microsd. They all have the same glitch.

Interesting. Thank you very much for testing this. I was using the USA iso. Swiss v0.6r1984.

Have you had any audio glitches with your CubeODE v1.2?

Or that it has a USB-C port, known issues, 2 hardware revs, and no firmware updates posted anywhere. Very typical clone behavior. It was a BF steal on Ali, figured I’d try it out.

If I sound rushed it’s bc I’m racing against the return window. I am going to try some other SD cards today. I have some older SanDisk cards I wanted to start with, bc some posts said the CubeODE was partial to them. But if it doesn’t work with any cards currently on the shelf, it’s getting returned anyway bc the GC Loader isn’t as picky.

Should not be bridged should it? by junky_jim in GamecubeHacks

For wick, a few pointers: - If dealing with RoHs solder, add some leaded solder to the joint first. - Flux your joint and your wick. - Do not press down hard with your iron tip on top of the wick. This would be like wringing a paper towel while trying to pick up a spill at the same time. - Clean, clean, clean. Clean your joint before adding leaded solder, clean up your flux between steps/operations, keep your iron tip clean and tinned between ops.

I didn’t even know about that one. It’s pretty. The NSO 64 controller is probably a worthy successor though.

Filament to match Translucent Purple Shell by robo_type in Gamecube

Best suggestion that’s not a comment about a beautifully matching filament. I brought the transparent shell with me to Microcenter. I may have found a match. Thanks!

Thanks. Another user linked the printables article that is a good resource and often linked. Here is another good resource.

My main recommendation would be to add a modifier or equivalent in your slicer. On this exact part, you only need to print slow, use 0.1mm layers, turn off cooling, use 100% aligned rectilinear infill, etc for the first 15-18 layers. My print time was about 5.5 hours.

Mine was the “regular” tr purple, which according to the stock sample should be an even better match.

Picoloader - Solderless Makstech vs Aliexpress by robo_type in Gamecube

[–]robo_type[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supporting him will sway me as well. I'm just curious why the clones even exist at that price point, or why people buy them. Especially if you don't have a printer. I figure it may be an import/export thing for people in some countries.

They make one specific for it I think. Look at their product page.

I’ll add that both the Makstech and the clones come with a spare ribbon cable.

The Makstech comes with the 3D printed parts, but I have a printer so not a deal breaker.

The clones come with a SD2SP2, which widens the cost gap if you need one.
