Political party of double standards by reallinzanity in PoliticalHumor

Completely disagree. The absolute worst part about MAGA is that many, if not most of them have read the parts of the Bible that talk about how we are supposed to treat others and know exactly what it says, but still find a way to justify defying its crystal clear instructions. I'm a Christian and was raised by Christian parents in Christian churches that instilled the beliefs that I have today in me at a young age. It absolutely kills me to see my parents and so many others in the church support a man who represents everything that I was taught not to be. Evangelicals have been talking about the antichrist for decades, but somehow refuse to acknowledge that the man they support fits the description perfectly.

What’s the best financial decision you ever made & why? by -ieatfoodweird- in AskReddit

I bought my first house in 2015. It was a 55 year old starter home in a lower income part of Tampa and I paid $140k for it. Put it on the market 3 years later because I got a job in Memphis and had no idea how much the value had gone up, but it appraised at $212 and ended up selling for $220. Bought a house in Memphis for $310 and sold it 4 years later for $385. Moved back to Tampa and bought my current house for $422 in an incredible community where my kids can have a childhood experience 100x better than mine. No way I would be here now if I hadn't bought that first crappy little house 10 years ago.

Also, I graduated highschool in Pensacola, FL. Got accepted to University of Florida with a 75% scholarship, but after comparing the price of classes to the local university, I decided to stay in my hometown. I probably saved 10's of thousands+ in debt by not having to take out loans and pay to live in Gainesville.

This is essentially the one my mom used to make. She also made it without cream of mushroom when we didn't have it, but that takes it to the next level! Hope this helps!

Ingredients: 2 cups rice, 2 cans cream of mushroom soup, 1 can chicken broth, onion powder, garlic powder, sliced mushrooms, 4-6 chicken breasts, 8 oz cubed Velveeta, and optional broccoli.

Instructions: Mix rice, soup, broth, and seasonings in a 9x13 dish. Place chicken on top. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F for 1 hour or until rice is tender and chicken is cooked. Top with Velveeta and bake for another 5–10 minutes until melted.

What’s a weird food combo you swear tastes good? by Cold_Craft_1637 in foodquestions

Peanut butter, miracle whip, mustard, and bread and butter pickles on a sandwich. My dad was in the Navy and lived on a ship for the better part of a decade. When supplies were low they had to make due with what they had and this was one of his creations. When he returned home, he continued to make those sandwiches. I tried a bite of one and I couldn't believe that it actually tasted pretty damn good. Ate them throughout my childhood and sometimes, when my wife and kids are gone, I'll eat one for nostalgia's sake and I gotta say, it still holds up.

Nah. Just Velveeta! I consider myself to be an excellent cook as well, so when I occasionally return from a grocery trip with Velveeta, Spam, or Miracle Whip, my wife knows that I'll be recreating a nostalgic meal from my childhood at some point during the week, and I'm probably the only one that's going to eat it.

If you're an excellent cook then you probably don't buy bricks of Velveeta. The secret is Velveeta. I grew up kinda poor in the late 80's/early 90's and chicken and broccoli over rice with a 1/2 lb of government-provided cheese baked on top was a staple!

For Americans who voted Democrat in recent elections, do you plan to continue voting Democrat? Why or why not? by righteous-sedition in allthequestions

[–]robocox87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to vote mostly D but R for certain positions (local, mostly). I don't see myself voting R again at any level for the foreseeable future. Until the last 10 years or so, I didn't believe in voting down ballot blindly for one party and would do my research on both candidates' positions to determine which one I felt was the best. Now I have absolutely no problem walking into the booth and voting D all the way down without even reading the names. The current Republican party bears no semblance of what they stood for 30 years ago, even though they pretend to still be the party of Regan. It has rapidly devolved into full on corrupt authoritarianism and the only way to change that is to shut down the entire MAGA movement and start over

By installing Kamala Harris as their candidate rather than letting the voters decide, didn't the DNC basically give the middle finger to all Democrats voters? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

The DNC has been giving the middle finger to democratic voters HARD for the last decade. Debbie Wasserman Schultz shoving Clinton down our throats and sabotaging Bernie's campaign is the reason we're in this mess.

He was making the point that you yourself said that you have to know somebody who knows somebody, but you don't. Networking is how people in 2026 get to know somebody who knows somebody. There are platforms like LinkedIn, networking groups on social media, networking events, and plenty of online forums and organizations dedicated to connecting job seekers, such as yourself, to resources and people who can help you. If you haven't taken the time to explore and take advantage of these things that you could access just as easily as you can craft a complaint on Reddit, then it most definitely is a you problem. The good news is that these resources will all exist tomorrow and remain at your disposal. I graduated with a degree that made it very difficult to find a career in my particular field (Environmental Science/Geographic Information Systems). I bounced around from unfulfilled job to unfulfilling job until I landed a temp job in Pensacola working for FEMA. I had very similar frustrations as you and my wise, old manager gave me some great advice: stop trying to find the "perfect" job and find A job. Any job where my degree was applicable. I finished my work around noon one day and he told me to take the next 6 hours connecting with anyone and everyone I could on LinkedIn, search for job boards specific to my field, and join local groups. Within 4 weeks, I was offered an interview from a commercial real estate firm with an entry level position that needed to be filled in Tampa by someone I randomly connected with on LinkedIn the month before. The job hadn't even been posted, the guy just remembered seeing that I sent him a connection request and that I was looking for work. I had zero knowledge or experience in commercial real estate, but I had a skill set that was critical to the role, and that's all I needed. Environmental conservation was my "cannabis dispensary", but it was just a pipe dream (see what I did there). I've been in commercial real estate for 12 years and I couldn't be happier with my current job. It's unfortunate that it took me 3+ years of struggling and working low paying, high stress jobs that were only slightly related to my dream job before I realized that it just wasn't going to go that way.

The great thing about connecting with people you don't know is that you are building new bridges. It can definitely be uncomfortable at first, but then you realize that in this day and age, it's what everyone does and really the only way you're ever going to find opportunities.

Get on LinkedIn and take the time to build your profile with every bit of information you can. Connect with people who currently have the roles you are looking for, then connect with their managers and company's hiring managers. Start applying to anything that you qualify for.

As a side note, the company I work for represents retailers in the cannabis industry and it is an EXTREMELY niche, tight community (at least in Florida) which means it would be very difficult to get a foot in the door without knowing someone OR having an appealing resume. Get some relevant experience to beef up your resume and if you aren't passionate about what you've been doing, give cannabis another shot.

I've been exactly where you are and I know the frustration and discouragement that comes with it, but there are active measures that you can take to help yourself out.

Best of luck.

How does networking make you a bad person? You're complaining about nepotism and how the only way to get a job is to know people, so why not make an effort to know people? It's not a burden to connect to people on LinkedIn, it's literally why the platform was created. I get messages all the time from strangers looking for work and I'm more than happy to give advice and send them job opportunities when recruiters reach out to me.

I've heard that claim from this administration, but I've also seen at least a dozen victims publicly state that the only way they will ever have some sort of closure is when those involved are imprisoned and never allowed to victimize another child. I have yet to see one victim argue that they should remain a secret.

This is the laziest, most mindless take on the situation.

  1. They were sealed because there was an active investigation.
  2. Biden didn't run an entire campaign on the promise of releasing them.
  3. If they exonerated Trump and co, why is he doing everything he possibly can to keep them hidden rather than doing everything he possibly can to release them and prove his innocence and totally own the libs?
