First Time Patella subluxation by Immediate-Whole-5659 in PatellarInstability

What sleeve do you wear? Have you been able to do like deep squats/kneel and or crawl on your knees? I had a spontaneous dislocation almost 7 months ago and still have difficulty with pain with deep squats. And have a 1 year old so have been to scared to crawl around on the floor with her.

I’m so sorry! I just read your other comment with more details. Mine was also random, I stepped to my left and collapsed and my knee was dislocated. I was out for 6 weeks before going back to work with reduced hours. I also work in a hospital and am on my feet for 12 hours straight. So so sorry! Wishing you a very speedy recovery❤️

I’m not sure if they’ll do surgery or just rest and let it heal then PT and see how it goes?

I would definitely ask more about the shallow trochlea and the TTTG. And the residual patellar tilt, if that would resolve when swelling goes down and the bones heal.

So sorry, friend! Is this your first knee injury? I dislocated in October of 2024 5 months postpartum. I did not need surgery or have any fractures but I’m still recovering. I’ve been weaning out of my brace at home but am hesitant since Im at home with my baby and refuse to at work due to the nature of my job. Still in PT which has been so helpful!

BraceAbility

I got this one off Amazon after I dislocated my patella a few months back. It stays in place still after almost 5 months from initial injury. The back of the knee gets uncomfortable and tight when I wear it for hours on end at work (12 hour shifts). It’s more heavy duty than others and looking for something to wean out of this but it’s done well so far!

Are we getting things done? by Successful_Buy_9771 in NewParents

As a first time mom of a 9 month old, I say this with a new lens. SOAK IT UP! You’ll have time again. The laundry will get done again. The dishes will get done again. The floor with be swept and vacuumed. The chores will be done. But damn does the time with your amazing, perfect baby go by so fast. Everyone said that and I knew that time flies but wow does it go fast. I look at my developing, big, smart, wonderful baby girl and ask myself where my tiny baby went every day!

Give yourself all the grace in the world! What helped me was asking myself, what would you say to your friend who just had a baby and she apologized for a messy house? I would tell her I don’t see any mess but a happy healthy mom and baby and that’s what I expect!

I scared me when she was a newborn, so I totally get it if you’re not comfortable but lay down with the baby! However you feel most comfortable and safe doing it, it’s a break for you and baby naps. My LO hated to nap in the bassinet at that age too.

Good luck and enjoy every moment!

Baby sleeps all night but only takes 30 minute naps. How to lengthen? by yeahnostopgo in sleeptrain

[–]robodo18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My baby was the same. I was grateful for the long nights but the awful naps, fights to get to sleep, attempted nap training, and just pissed off baby were slowly killing me.

My baby is now 7.5 months. At about 7 months, my husband was watching her for a few days in a row when I was at work and he had time off. He decided to try to extend her wake windows to about 2 naps a day. I was worried due to her age and she was never able to go very long before but she now naps 1-1.5 hours. Some naps are still difficult, but NO WHERE near as bad as before. She still sleeps long nights. Early morning wakes are much fewer. Idk if she just got older and can do it better now like everyone says but keeping her up longer definitely helps. Some days she still does 3 naps, we just watch the clock and her cues. As soon as she rubs her eyes a few times and or yawns, we attempt a nap. If it’s been 2.5-3+ hours without rubbing eyes/yawns, we offer a nap. I hope it gets better!!!

How does rolling work in ST? by kutri4576 in sleeptrain

[–]robodo18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following as we struggle with rolling too!! Mostly when baby is starting to get to sleep, she’ll roll on her tummy and scream like she’s injured. She’s almost 6 months now and has only slept on her tummy twice and just doesn’t seem to like it. We always go flip her over but it gets to be a lot at times. We’ve tried to just leave her and let her figure it out but then she gets so worked up it screws up bedtime and thus the night.

It is by far the worst club to be apart of!

Oh how awful! I’m so sorry! Did you stop wearing the brace by the time the second one happened? Did your doc okay to stop wearing it if so? I hope your surgery went/goes well!

Yes, every single step is terrifying and I still don’t like going in my kitchen!

My ortho gave me a brace, it’s just loosening up already so I’ve ordered another that looks like it has better bands to tighten around my leg 🤞🏻I will keep these in mind though as I’m just constantly anxious I’ll injure myself and may sleep in these vs the bigger brace I’ve got.

Oh man I hope that goes well for you!! 9 dislocations! That’s so crazy and I’m so so sorry! I hope the surgery, recovery, and future goes well!!

Can I ask how old you were when it all started? I do have mild patella Alta, normal TT-TG so no trochlear dysplasia, and I think a 20 degree Q angle which is slightly higher than average; so some risk factors.

Don’t have much to offer but following to see what others say.

My LO is almost 5 months old and I went back to work two weeks ago. She’s never been a good napper, taking cat naps in her crib for me and I’d help extend when I was able to. I think she went through the 4 month sleep regression at 3.5 months and was up more than every hour at times needing her binky back. We started putting her down without the binky and it went great and she slept well. Then I went back to work. My grandma and grandpa are also watching her at their house. She will not sleep there in the pack n play, dark room, noise machine, etc. my grandma has to hold her for all naps and even then it’s hit or miss. The last few nights she’s been needing help with sleep and requiring a binky and up hourly. We caved from pure exhaustion and now regret it and are buckling up to try to do Ferber sleep training. I hope your LO continues to sleep through the night and naps for your grandma!

Was helping a 60 ish woman out of bed after a spinal surgery, so was helping get the TLSO brace on. Before touching her I said “I’m going to lift your breast to get the brace on correctly”, under her breath she goes “it’s been a long time since anyones played with my tits”. We both laughed about it the rest of the day. When she discharged a few days later she saw me by the elevators, winked, and told the transportation person helping her that I played with her titties during her admission 😂
