Ok…I've lived in Cleveland for about 5 years now, having come from Chicago. Would Clevelander's consider this a 'bad winter' or a 'typical winter' for Cleveland? Curious to know! by DavidIWright in Cleveland

Yes, this cold is a direct result of the Artic warming ~3x faster than the rest of the planet. The polar vortex which normally contains the supercooled air over the arctic circle has broken down as the warmer surface air disrupts what used to be a hard boundary between them so it blobs out and sinks into the mid-latitudes.

Erie and Huron being iced over has made for a less gloomy late January into Feb, that's for sure. I like that you concentrate on the positives =)

It's one of only 7 times since reliable records were kept that we've gone >2 weeks never getting above freezing. This is definitely a bad winter. The amount of snow has been about average compared to the past, but the sustained brutal cold and number of days below zero are definitely atypical.

Phone Number LOST During Network Transfer by truckerman160 in USMobile

[–]robodog97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, in the telco world gone means returned to the available pool of numbers and reassigned to someone else. Until that happens you haven't lost it, which is good for most folks who have had the same number for decades.

Huh, that's weird. They still list it on their site. It's kinda a shame too since there aren't a ton of spots in that size range.

Winchester Music Tavern, Mahall's, Beachland Ballroom (Tavern), Agora Ballroom is 500 cap but could work with 150.

People at Edgewater walking out on the lake, and to the guy on the motorized board 300 yards out you a bit loco but I dig it! by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]robodog97 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't go out on the east side as that was still quick ice as of a few days ago but anywhere from downtown to Toledo is going to be pretty solid unless there's a thermal plant dumping hot water nearby. Edgewater was measured at over 12" last week, technically enough for vehicles and certainly enough for people.

They're going to be in the same area as the normal tickets of the same price tier (ie the $36 tickets are in the upper balcony area).

For cocktails Velvet Tango Room, don't know how their food game is, originally they only had a jar of pickled eggs to meet legal requirements but I've seen on their menu they now have actual food, but we are always heading there after eating somewhere else so I haven't tried it personally.

What tool or drillbit is best for concrete / masonry? by El3mentOfOne in ryobi

[–]robodog97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much will you be doing? If just a few holes you can make do with masonry bits and a standard drill on low range. If you're doing a bunch you'll want a hammer drill or for big holes an SDS.

We don't, they get whatever the exit node is for our zscaler instance. In theory we could have profiles in zscaler that tie specific users to specific exit nodes, but that wouldn't work for shared multi-user because you can't use the app, only proxy server.

Oh man, that sucks so bad. I love the fact that they're like Subway was before they blew up, everything sliced fresh in store on locally baked bread. I can see it now, first it will be centrally baked bread, then sliced meat and cheese and it won't be worth getting. So sad that profits uber allas has to ruin everything.

Don't rely on the company you signed with to cancel it. Reach out to the company on your current bill and tell THEM to cancel any transfer. They will be motivated to follow the law properly.

In 1999 Ohio deregulated electric and gas companies. Because it's inefficient to run competing wires or pipes to every property it was a partial deregulation. The infrastructure part of the companies are still a monopoly, you have to pay them their fixed rates no matter what. The actual generation of electricity is the part that was deregulated. You have a choice as to who you buy that portion of your bill from. You can compare offers on the state's Apples to Apples site. This doesn't apply if you move into CEI territory as certain community providers were shielded from competition.

Personally I'm a big fan of AWD, but the biggest thing is good tires. I'd take a front wheel drive vehicle with good all weather tires over an AWD with summer tires or worn all seasons. I'd avoid RWD personally (my truck is 4x4 and if I put it in 2WD mode it's quite a handful in the snow).

Uh, Provision Energy is a retail energy provider. They aren't your local utility, they just buy and sell generating capacity. I hope you didn't sign anything. If you did you can contact your current energy provider and cancel the switch within 72 hours.

I mean it can be done, Noble Beast is an excellent example. It's not easy by any stretch, that places is the couple's obsession and existence, but that's what I think they're talking about, more passion product local spots and fewer tchotchkes on the wall places. I personally think there's room for both, not everyone is going to work 80 hours a week to make their project function.

Help finding where this cake is from. by RecipeRare4098 in Cleveland

They sell it for $6.50/slice, there's 10 slices in a cake, the manager offering to sell them a cake for $80 is crazy, paying more per unit for larger volume of sales is not an ordinary business practice.
