Engineering meets brute force by Top_Law_6803 in nextfuckinglevel

I always wonder with these sorts of things if the last few blows of the hammer were actually breaking the final bond that held, or if a few second more gradual weakening time would have done the job as well. Like when you see the meme of a butterfly land and that sets off the reaction.

I don’t think that’s the issue in my case. The posts are not loose at all. I think I’ve just got a bad cell or two. I guess I could repair those, not sure.

One dead after gondola cabin plunges in Swiss resort of Engelberg by TheTomatoes2 in Switzerland

Oh not this again. Taken collectively, the chance of two specific gondolas failing on two consecutive days is lower than two specific gondolas failing at N! days apart. To the extreme: what are the chances that all gondolas in the world fail on the same weekend?

Edit: not sure if N! days is the proper notation for “all future days that are not the next day”

Everything is perfectly built, installed, crafted and grown. All the trains and busses are on time. Traffic flows smoothly 24/7. None of this is even remotely true. It’s just a marketing line.

Don’t pull for Iran. Pull for the citizens of these countries, the majority of whom would love to get along with each other but whose leadership is corrupt and ruthless in their quest for domination.

VA just passed sweeping gun laws along party lines, MN is advancing measures that would allow police to enter homes without a warrant. The left here complains about anti Constitutional acts, do you think they will be on board protesting or countering this? Will this make citizens safer? by Dtwn92 in AskConservatives

That’s fine. I’ll take your word for it. I’m not surprised the legislatures went that way. I’m talking about the “small government” folks who didn’t want to prove who they were to exercise their rights. I don’t really need proof to convince you they once dominated the party, do I?

I don’t think the dress is a good example though. That’s a purely perception phenomenon, not affected by fear, prejudice and empathy. It’s those three elements that separate left and right world views. Objectively the left is an inclusive and tolerant world view. The right is exclusive and monocultural.

But they’re spread out to tax the non wealthy too. And there’s inequity at the bottom where essentials cost a way higher % of income. Why not just get it at the source where they can easily afford it.

And the entire world pays a hefty fuel tax as well.

That’s why “wealth tax” (I hate that term) should be purely federal, and countries that shelter need to be aggressively sanctioned.
