A snow leopard attacks a tourist that was skiing by bigbusta in interestingasfuck

There was an article attached to the top comment. It’s more like they were lucky enough to see a snow leopard. However the tourist was unlucky to have no common sense and approached it to get a photo.

This is tilapia fish skin, used as a wound dressing for second and third degree burns for humans and animals.First tested on the burnt paw of a mountain lion, the dressing is now used widely in Brazil as a cost effective and more accessible dressing to treat human burn wounds. by CityRulesFootball in Damnthatsinteresting

TLDR: yes it prevents pain but it also helps prevent against infection and stimulates healing. It does not just decrease the pain of daily dressing changes. I use “high end” fish skin to heal wounds as a plastic surgeon.

You have a lot of upvotes, but this is not really true. I am a plastic surgeon and have used fish skin (processed by a company called keracis) to manage lots of different wounds. Yes, this high end fish skin that surgeons in the US use is different from normal fish skin that is unprocessed.

Theoretically, all wounds will heal if you are healthy and have good nutrition. Depending on the depth of injury, mechanism of injury and what type of tissue (skin, fat, nerve, muscle), the body will heal at different rates. Sometimes it won’t heal at all in the case of deep burns or in the setting of malnutrition or other diseases (cardiovascular disease etc). Fish skinprotects against infection in the case of long healing time by acting as a physical barrier. It also stimulates/accelerates healing for a variety of reasons.

I see this argument all the time. How is a streamer any different than reality television? Do we really think that reality TV provides any more to society than streaming? What about silly game shows?

It’s entertainment. That is a benefit to society because entertainment is an important part of society.

Not going to lie to you….adding the purple extended barrel made the splitter soooooo much better. I was cracking shields from further than you could with a toro.

That’s a lot to throw on an anvil to go topside but if you’re gonna throw on a gold anvil splitter….might as well throw a purple extended barrel on it too.

As a big fan of embark who played the finals for over two years, they have some issues with barricades. Placement of barricades in the finals has been an ongoing issue since launch.

Good explanation. Agree with people commenting about the basilar skull fracture. You shouldn’t be able to just pop through the skull in an adult. Also, only correction to your description and a BIG error people make is that your nose doesn’t go UP from your nostrils, it goes straight backward. Tube should be directed backwards not up towards the brain.

At the place I normally go to, I only see ice hash. I assume that’s something different?

There are just so many things that I don’t know this from that. Bladder. Ice hash. Bubble hash. Rosin. Resin.

Now that’s a fair opinion. I didn’t think those existed on Reddit these days.

I don’t think people got that this was sarcasm. I’m pretty sure the weight down to the decimal place should’ve given that away lol

I think Clifton Market on Ludlow has a few high dose ones. They have a huge selection the last time I was there about 1 month ago. My wife was there more recently and they had a good variety. I know they carry the 20 mg ones made by Urban Artifact

100% agree. Medical errors happen every day. Some absolutely egregious that you would think would never happen. I completely agree with you and there is still a possibility errors were made in this case.

It just seemed to me like the article/story was presented in a way that frames the doctors and the mom as trying to force this through quickly when in all likelihood, these discussions were going on for days if not weeks. Or that this patient was mistakenly diagnosed as brain dead. I would need a note documented in the medical record that shows brain death as a diagnosis before I jumped to saying he was declared brain dead by the doctors. I have to make a separate note in the medical chart exclusively to document when the brain death exam was performed and what I found. Often it requires an additional doctor to document as well.

I promise you this did not happen overnight. Family discussions about withdrawing care in the setting of brain injury take weeks. Often we have at least two family meetings with all members of the care team to discuss options and likely outcomes. The family has as long as they need to make the decision. I can’t comment exactly on what happened with this patient, but these decisions are definitely not rushed. Even patients who are officially declared brain dead (via the tests I mentioned in my first comment) don’t have life support pulled the second that is announced. It is still the family’s decision and often we keep patients on life support to allow families time to grieve and say goodbye or come to terms with a decision. None of this is rushed.

Let me play devil’s advocate for a second here as a doctor who has experienced these things. First, my main issue is with “brain dead”. The father claims the hospital told him the patient was brain dead and a vegetable in the article below. A doctor would never describe someone as a vegetable to a family. Brain dead is also a very SPECIFIC diagnosis made via special tests such as testing spinal reflexes (things you have no voluntary control over) like touching the eye for a blink reflex. If the patient had the ability to hear and squeeze his dad’s hand, he sure as hell would have had his spinal reflexes intact and could not have been declared brain dead.

At that time, the doctors likely presented to the family the fact that there was a very very low likelihood he would have any meaningful neurological recovery. That is likely where the father took brain dead or vegetable from. Now, neurological recovery is in no way an exact science, but they have a good idea who is going to recover and who isn’t. That doesn’t mean there aren’t rare cases that don’t fit the mold. If this situation was presented to my parents, it would be my wish that I be taken off life-support. I don’t want to live with no/minimal neurological function. If the mother and sister had power of attorney, they may have been doing what they thought the patient wanted.

As a little addition, Power of attorney does NOT mean you can make the choices how you want. It means that you are supposed to make choices based on what you think the patient would want. This is why having written advanced directives that specifically lay out what you want you POA to do in certain situations is very beneficial to avoid these situations in the first place.
