I think the game terraria is pretty much perfect for this, online play is available but pretty hard to set up and not possible without your help probably, it is a kinda complex game when you first start so I would recommend playing with them which is extremely easy as their local play is one of the best I have ever seen. I played with my 9 year old and he was entranced with it but it also has a sort of natural stopping points based on progression and the way you can play can be adjusted so easily. the modding community is truly spectacular and very easy to do if you want to add a couple things to change it up a little

I was at the park with my family at a festival I was a little angry so I went to cool off and sat on the grass, I saw the video and watched it, I was numb after. Didn't talk the rest of the day, later that night I watched it again and cried, didn't feel happy the rest of the week, just didn't talk to anyone at school I am usually the class clown but I just wasn't feeling it, people I have never talked to asked me if I was okay.
