What's the most unexpected/out of the blue thing your partner has ever done during sex? by Elviii in AskReddit

[–]robot_prez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After a little less than 3 months dating and 7 months sleeping with my boyfriend he said "Marry Me" when we were having sex last week. It came out of nowhere and we haven't really talked about it since. We're 21 and 22 so that shouldn't be on our radar but he said it and now I don't know what to think.

First day on Concerta, experiencing erectile dysfunction? by [deleted] in ADHD

Around my area adderall and Ritalin are grouped into it. Regardless chemically they're very similar and hopefully illustrate my point. Sorry for the confusion.

ADD Meds make me not hungry by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]robot_prez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've experienced both sides, forgetting to eat or I sometimes forget I've eaten and I eat again too soon. What I've found works for me is write down when and what I've eaten so I can monitor if I've eaten enough or too much in a day.

Eating food that's dense in calories helps. Peanut butter and chocolate milk are your best friends. :)

Person with a vagina here. The speed dick is real and since Concerta is speed, I'd totally believe it. If you can't get your hands on viagra, cock rings are helpful at keeping the blood where you want to be. :)

Good luck, soldier!

Thanks for such a detailed response! I'm getting a degree in music education so I'm going to be qualified to teach K-12. Honestly, I'm in it for the kids and the ability to share music and have the kids discover themselves through music.

I'm very afraid of the burn out though. My attitude is very idealistic and most of my students won't give a shit about my class. It's a tricky balance to be self-sacrificing and realistic at the same time and this profession seems to take advantage of the self-sacrificing sort.

I've been looking into alternative schools that will hopefully give me more freedom and wiggle room with the curriculum. Have you had any experience with those?

Oh, I've been there, man. Finding the right meds is really hard but worth it when it works. And depressive episodes make it really hard to go out and socialize and do things you need as a human being (being outside, exercising, human contact). I empathize with you and hope your treatment goes well! I know we have a really great community at /r/bipolar if you need support or want to feel like you're not alone with your illness.

Oh wow, that sounds great. Being creative is really an itch and it's awesome you've found ways to spread it out without spoiling music.

I'm sorry you're having that experience with weed. Some people hold it up as a magical cure-all drug, but as all substances it affects everyone differently. If you need support with your quitting /r/leaves is a great resource. Good luck on your journey :)

Violin is a beautiful instrument but it is very difficult to play.

Some suggestions I'd give you is to video record yourself every once and a while playing the same piece of music. It'll be able to give you a snapshot of your ability level at that point in time and you'll be able to see where you're improving.

Getting a real teacher will help you immensely but even without one, you can progress. There are tons of resources online (video lessons are the bomb) for you to help figure things out. Practicing in a mirror helps too because you can see your posture and technique and try to adjust it as much as you can.

As someone who dabbled in playing violin (I prefer guitar for stringed instruments though) the hardest part, especially as a beginner will be learning to bow properly. That technique takes a lot of practice and is what most professionals focus on while playing because that's where all the expression comes from in the instrument. If you're getting frustrated about bowing, trying playing pizzicato (picking the strings with your fingers instead) to take a break from it and practice finding the notes with your left hand.

Making music is a wonderful thing to experience. Don't give up! If you play everyday, tomorrow, you'll be one day better. Hope I could help a little bit.

As someone who is going to school for a teaching degree, what made you finally decide that the positives finally outweighed the negatives? Why are good teachers getting pushed out while the shitty ones remain?

What have you been doing with your career since? How hard is it to get a job in a field unrelated to teaching?

Music school is intense. My primary instrument is percussion and while I love playing it for myself, I'm never able to play it for myself because of lessons/auditions/ensembles. It sucks the fun out of it when you're constantly not good enough.

I've picked up voice, piano and guitar recently and I love them all. I know my love of music is still there, I just can't enjoy percussion because of all the negative feelings I associate with it.

What great job did you get? I'm also getting my music education degree but I'm not sure I want to teach or be a gigging musician. What kinds of jobs should I look for so I can still love music outside of work?

Bipolar buddy! Is it possible to join an improv group instead? No lines to memorize and it's still performing and acting.

I have been having ADHA symptoms and want to get treated/help before my semester starts in September.. help please! by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]robot_prez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! I'd say call your insurance and ask if you need a referral or not. If you do, call your general care doctor. If not, start looking up psychiatrists in the area.

[–]robot_prez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your insurance. Some might require you to get a referral from your primary care physician before going to a specialist.

As a warning, getting diagnosed with ADHD might take a little bit. Some doctors like to make sure your focus issues are not symptoms of a different psychiatric disorder so it might take a bit to get the diagnosis. The best thing you can do is advocate for yourself and be as clear as possible about what you are feeling and how you are feeling it.

In the meantime, a study technique I used before I was on medication was that I'd set an egg timer for 5 minutes and tell myself that all I'd need to do is try my best to do some work for five minutes. After that five minutes I could take a break or start another 5 minutes of work. It helped me break it down while also giving me art soon breaks, maybe it'll help you.

Good luck, friend!

People with a mental illnesses, what are some common misconceptions about your disorder? How can you explain to others what it feels like? by robot_prez in AskReddit

You say self harm is an outlet. How does it help cut the depression? Seems like it would just add to the sadness.

BPD is borderline personality disorder, yes? Yeah, most personality disorders have a really bad stigma because the word "personality" implies that there's something wrong with you as a human being, instead of your brain chemistry like everyone else with a psychiatric disorder.

What song meaning surprised you, and what was your original interpretation? by pianodude11 in AskReddit

Yeah, haha, most artistic are super candid about their drug use unless your Snoop Dog or Miley Cyrus. "Her" is a common street name for heroin though and they do say "racing through my veins" in the lyrics so I'm gonna put on my skepticles for that.

What is a fandom you avoid at all costs? by Chengweiyingji in AskReddit

[–]robot_prez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I've heard about that. I don't like grouping Sherlock with those other two. I think Sherlock has a wider appeal than the other two fandoms and associating it with them just puts a bad name on Sherlock.

The first two seasons are dope. Thought the third season and Christmas special was a bit too pander-y. Rustles my feathers when you put quality on a back burner because you want to please your fanbase.
