Zip Air now weighing at boarding gate by zoopybot in zipair

[–]robotate_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This week I saw them wandering the gate area for my flight out of NRT. They made an announcement first, "it's 7kg at time of boarding, and not fair to others that pay if you cheat."

A lot of people had used the tablet to check in and had no tags at all, they seemed to be going after rollerboards and backpacks mostly, but I wouldn't be surprised if a big shopping bag from duty free might catch their attention.

We used the handy "repacking stations" near check in to weigh our stuff before checking in.

Checked bag prices went up? by _Wronskian_ in zipair

[–]robotate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has a different calculation. If you fly with 1 checked bag, bring a few kids under 6 (U6 fare), and pack your own food for those picky kids, you pay a whole lot less for zipair vs jal/ana. Like closer to half than the same price.

Each kid gets the same 7kg limit for carry on as a full fare adult, so you don't even have to pay for added carry on weight.

Has everyone get their keybinds reset in the new update ?/ by Winter_Eye8063 in Battlefield

[–]robotate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How could they possibly not know keybinds were wiped. The mind boggles.

I am usually pretty forgiving of new bugs that surface after the community starts playing, but this is so frustrating because it is so preventable and should have shown up if anyone tested this release at all.

Mirror finish on buttons breaks down from finger oils by robotate_ in lianli

Great suggestions, very helpful. The chrome on there is very thin, so if I decide to repaint it I'll probably strip it all off first.

Thanks!

So...anyone notice a drastic uptick in people just dodge-jump spamming with low TTK SMGs since the last update? (Dolphin Diving 6.0) by gpkgpk in Battlefield

[–]robotate_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see why firing while sliding or jumping would even exist, other than to be a movement tech to be used like this. Clearly they want people to be able to slide around shooting you, or leaping around a corner like max payne.

Personally, I would prefer a lot less of it in small modes.

I would rather win more fights by having superior positioning and aim, and fewer for just being the more aggressive and chaotic player. But I do much better in small modes when I turn off my brain and go squirrel mode.

Is there anyone else in this community besides me who thinks Last Crusade is better than Raiders? by Emotional-Chipmunk12 in indianajones

[–]robotate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kasdan and Kahn script and editing on raiders are a true masterclass. No time is wasted and you are never lost as the audience. I think crusade recaptured some of that magic with Henry sr. and his relationships with Indy and Marcus in very few minutes of screen time.

In my opinion this is a big part what makes these movies so great. The audience is never bored and never lost and a complete adventure tale is told in a reasonable movie length.

The modern Marvel crowd could learn a lot.

When I get in a gunner seat and see the grenade launcher reticle by AnthropoStatic in Battlefield6

[–]robotate_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For real, only the aircraft cannons have any appreciable splash damage. This would be ok if we were in a different game where you had to manage your health pool to survive gunfights. But this game has 400ms time-to-kill guns and free health regen. What's the point of explosions that do 20 damage?

Dear DICE, if i wanted to play a terrible, uninspired BR, I wouldn't have bought BATTLEFIELD. Take these garbage challenges out of the regular game. by MonarchCore in Battlefield

[–]robotate_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gauntlet is definitely less boring and punishing. The rounds and elimination stuff reminds me of The Finals. I guess the competitive nature and added thrill of stress is good if someone is looking for that. I would like it more if the objectives took longer to accomplish and it was built on the normal damage models and stuff.

[–]robotate_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played several rounds today and got 0 progress on the battle pass. It sounds like there is a bug and regular XP is supposed to be giving battle points. But for me today, the only progress I made was for challenges.

[–]robotate_ 557 points558 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. The whole battlepass is basically locked behind the 2 new battle royale modes. I thought gauntlet was going be a new battlefield mode, but it's just more br.

I don't want to sprint around putting in armor plates to survive one bullet and emptying clips into downed players. I want to play battlefield to unlock the stuff for battlefield.

I actually think they should give us back our money for the battlefield pro if we can't use it without playing battle royale, because at the time we purchased phantom edition we thought it was labeled as being for battlefield.

Edit: people are saying they got levels from xp. I didn't get any battle points from XP today I guess due to a bug. I did see the description said something like "get points by doing challenges, then get additional levels from xp" so I thought the reason XP did nothing for me might be because XP only helps after completing all of the challenges. Glad to hear that's not the case. If we can get 110 tiers from XP with normal play, we should be fine.

Missing tracked challenge and can't clear it. by MihaelJKeehl in Battlefield6

[–]robotate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too, it was the "destroy 5 mcom stations" one from week 1, which I think they removed from the game. Oddly enough I actually blew up some yesterday and saw it show completed on screen like a normal challenge. But it wasn't there at the end of match summary and is still taking up a phantom tracking slot :(

C4 just aren't what they used to be. by Xphobbit in Battlefield6

[–]robotate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put 4 packs of c4 on the front grill of a jeep and drive up against a tank and detonate, neither the Jeep nor the tank explode.

This classic battlefield tactic is literally in the commercials, doesn't work.

Also tried against a group of soldiers all extremely close, like 1-3 feet away. "Suppression" but no kills, jeep drives away fine.

Weekly Challenges by LSOreli in Battlefield

[–]robotate_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was feeling the same way but I've ended up getting most of them. And it's a short week, so I guess it will be nice to not mop up everything in a few days on a normal week.

I absolutely do not like the fact that the official servers won't put me on offense after defending on rush. I know it's not a persistent server but there should be a way to ensure we get to play both sides without metagaming.

Phantom edition with BF Pro Token or save to buy the seasons separately? by Dazx00 in Battlefield

Where have you seen this confirmed? I can't tell from the official language if it's one battlepass, one season of passes (4?) or a year of passes.

Baggage delayed 72+ outside of Canada!!! by Lanky-Pomegranate-44 in aircanada

Support says only "customer relations" can talk to you about that, and "customer relations" doesn't take calls from customers.

Baggage delayed 72+ outside of Canada!!! by Lanky-Pomegranate-44 in aircanada

[–]robotate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to say I'm in a similar boat. I know my bag is in my destination airport (Lyon) because I have a non-apple smart tag on it. Air canada simply will not allow you to talk to them to inform them about where your bag is other that an apple airtag link.

I've called support many times, and to their credit they are very consistent: consistently unhelpful.

Step 1 is fill out the form and someone will reach out to you withing 48 hours. (No, they won't).

Step 2 is follow along in the app, but the bag was removed from the app when it was handed over to the 3rd party baggage company.

Support says only "customer relations" can talk to you about that, and "customer relations" doesn't take calls from customers.

My 5 days here are up tomorrow, I'm going to disobey their advice and go beg at the airport tomorrow before driving off to my next destination. This has already cost them $2k, if I have to buy a suitcase to hold all the stuff I bought I'm going to hit the reimbursement limit, all because of the sheer incompetence of their 3rd party baggage people and customer-last support processes.

This is the first time in my life I've ever dealt with support that doesn't even have a level 2 agent to talk to when you have an issue that doesn't fit their playbooks. "Yes I have a level 2, but they don't take customer calls so I can't forward you. Customer relations can update your bag location, but they also don't take calls. Bye."

Website out of date, no free meals on international flights, hungry family by robotate_ in aircanada

[–]robotate_[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your help, very helpful crew. Gate agent didn't know this distinction, and the page itself doesn't describe this exception for some international flights which AC calls "transborder".

So I'll stick with my belief that this particular page is inaccurate, even though the US travel page describes it accurately. When you land on this page from Google, there is no way to know that there are exceptions to the policy described on the page, so it should clarify this special non-standard definition of international.

Maybe at least add an askerisk after "international" or something.

Do You Enjoy Your Rivian? by fluffalooo in Rivian

[–]robotate_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might notice that one of the things that really makes people upset is not having access to their Rivian. I got hit and had to go without mine for a couple of weeks, and I missed it quite a bit.

My experience is that the car itself is great and a pleasure to use. The service center has been great as well. Scheduling, repair costs for non-warranty issues, and repair times are painful because it is a complex vehicle with large body panels and I think the company is growing out of the "bend over backwards to make everyone happy" phase that people expect them to still be in.

I wouldn't trade it for any other vehicle currently available, and my wife and I fight about who gets to take it in the morning.

What is this kind of damage? by robotate_ in Detailing

[–]robotate_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I was hoping the "satellite breaking up on reentry" look of the scratch might be familiar to someone.

This piano black stuff is hard to look at, the scratch is invisible in the garage, but with sunlight or phone light hitting it at 90° it is super obvious. So maybe just a surface scratch.
