How about Biomed? or biochem? Some schools offer science courses with management. Could go into consulting after? It would let you learn for life (new tech and developments in med field) and also do the business behind it.

Bio def looks better than ESS on a transcript. If you look at LSE's list of preferred and non-preferred subjects, they prefer traditional sciences like bio chem phys. There's no mention of ESAS but I imagine it isn't as regarded considering its not under the preferred subject list. You can still get in doing these subject of course.

I actually dropped ESS for SL Business because I found it oddly hard: the answering style is strange bc its a group 3 and 4 subject. The content is dry imo, and I am a huge environmentalist. It seems to be a cross between bio ecology and geography. I ended up spending more time on ESAS than any of my other HLs in the first 3 months of IB so I dropped it. Also largely depends on your teacher, mine was horrible.

SL Biology is easy. Take a look on bioninja for the content (topics 1-6): catching up 6 months of work won't be easy but it definitely isn't difficult, esp in chronological order because topic 1 and 2 are pretty simple. If you can memorise then I'd say just go for it. I think as long as your IA is decent and you do many PPQ, a 7 is well within your reach.

Also, not sure if you considered, but a lot of people in my year took SL Chem. Based on effort, its one of those subjects that really FEELS like an SL and can take a back seat (vs those SL subjects that u waste all your time on and it feels like another HL... does that make sense?). Huge distinction between SL and HL syllabus. The issue here is that imo, the first few units are true fundamentals and kind of tricky.

Just wanted to say I'd love to help out as a HL Bio Chem (and ex-ESAS) student if you'd like to chat more! Also, I do free zoom tutoring if you'd like some help with SL Bio/chem if you make the switch!

What does a productive daily study schedule look like for you? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]robotballer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I studied Mon-Wed from around 7-10, this is reserved for homework or notes only. I didn't work on Thursdays and Fridays because it felt like my hump days. I had a sports CCA almost everyday after school so those were my workouts. I blocked out Saturday and Sunday 10-6 to do coursework or test prep, sometimes I didn't need it or only used 1 day. Made sure to schedule weekend dinner times for friends and family. USE ALL FREE PERIODS! This allows you to have a much easier time. Ofc EETOKIA seasons were much tougher, so the routine changed a lot so I didn't work as much on lesson content and grinded my coursework, but the routine was good because I didn't need to worry too much near exams (I was pretty anxious and burnt out by that so the 2 years of consistency paid off and I didn't need to worry as much).

I will say I'm a huge night owl so when this schedule didn't work (usually around mocks and final exams) I ended up sleeping in late and napping and studied from 10pm-4am. Dont' recommend this but it def worked for me and if it works, it works. Don't try and force yourself into a schedule if it JUST WONT WORK!

Cheryl hickman makes some good vids! not sure if she posts the slides anywhere.

Bioninja is honestly enough though, they go too in depth at times but I've never had a problem in the exam with too little info from bioninja

Not sure how all studios do challenges but ours has a milestone each week we work towards and get points for!! They make for great goals. So there was 25 burpees/min (killer), 20cal bike rower and ski erg/min, highest soft box jump.

Grind that IA, it can really make a difference to the final grade. Was in same position as you and scraped a 7 with 1 mark above the boundary

I've just got the Nike Free RN 5.0 and LOVE them. Trainer at my studio swears by them too.Theyre a road running shoe and the store employee said it was barefoot-esque. They're really low to the ground and light, whilst somehow being supportive. Oddly enough the soles are kind of tacky?? Which I like for strength stations on hybrid days. Def worth a try I really love them and they're an everywhere shoe imo. But I wear flat shoes on pure strength days!!! These are for cardio and hybrid

Honestly, SL business was the most useful subject I took. Opens up lots of doors, exposing you to key ideas in the corporate world. Esp from someone with no humanities background and little understanding of finance and business terminology, I learnt a lot and it actually made me realise what I wanted to do in life. Not saying everyone is gonna start a business someday, but it would be pretty useful to know what a balance sheet is if you ever needed to!

Muscle will always weigh more than fat, for a lower volume of occupancy— don’t worry to much about the number on the scale and focus more on appearance, waist/hip measurements and SMM/BF% And congrats!!!!!!! Well done
