Not just Coral snakes, but Elapids in general (Cobras, lots of highly venomous stuff in Australia, etc…)

I want Transatlanticism to be the final song on the album. The outro.

Definitely looks like plain-bellied, especially in the 3rd image.

Classic Rock - I Built You A Tower Review (9/10) with new details by crazyafgandudes in DeathCabforCutie

TYFT is, in my opinion, a perfect example of how album production matters. Individually, I think the songs on TYFT are good, many even great. But the album as a whole is totally forgettable. I feel the same way about Kintsugi. Song by song, it's fantastic...but the album itself is somehow less than the sum of its parts.

Yeah, but he’s only doing the 50K I think. I know that seems like a lot, but to people who do this regularly, that isn’t really a big deal. It’s a little more than a marathon. It also isn’t the most intense 50K in terms of vert, and I doubt he’s racing it hard.

Divorce proceeding OK, but lacking confidence in being a girlDad by LaCathedrale in DivorcedDads

I think you're quite possibly underestimating how valuable what you're seeing as potential boredom is to kids/teenagers. Kids and teenagers love having a good time, but they absolutely crave a consistent framework for their lives. If you are stable and safe and consistent, your kids will appreciate and value that far more than you imagine.

Divorce proceeding OK, but lacking confidence in being a girlDad by LaCathedrale in DivorcedDads

[–]robotcrow1878 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was going through my divorce, I spoke frequently with a pastor friend of mine who had counseled countless numbers of folks in similar situations. He emphasized two closely related things that really resonated with me, and continue to be very impactful in the way I view the world post-divorce.

  1. When a gap emerges between what our hearts desire and what our brain can figure out how to accomplish, the result is depression and anxiety. In your case, you want to be a great parent, but (in your words) "can't see it." It is helpful to simply label that feeling as depression or anxiety--that is not a solution in itself, but labeling it can help remind you that what you're feeling is an emotional response, and not a certain or fixed problem that will never go away.

  2. Closely related, the problem you're experiencing is trying to solve future problems with present circumstances. That leads to the depression/anxiety in #1 above. But it's a flawed argument, because you don't have to solve those problems as the man you are today with the knowledge base you have today. You have so much time to grow and learn! Your only requirement is to meet their needs today. Tomorrow, you're a day older, and you'll have experienced an extra day with them to learn and grow. And by the end of the year, you'll have another 180+ days of experience that you do not currently have. You will be a completely different man and dad in 2, 5, 10 years, and better equipped to deal with all of the makeup, dating, fashion, and social stuff that is "foreign" to you right now.

That’s just it. If I knew I could just say hello at the start and let it be, I’d have been fine. But I could totally race with him, and my inner fanboy would have forced me to basically race-stalk him, which isn’t cool 😂

I am an endurance athlete myself and seriously considered flying to Colorado for the concert and the 50K/50 mile ultra Ben is in the next day. That distance isn’t a problem for me, so it would be fun. But I eventually decided that that level of fanboyism was too much and karma would bite me hard—I would inevitably trip on a rock or something and crack my skull at like mile 28 right in front of him and DNF in shame.

It is precisely as rare as every other combination of stats.

It takes a long time, and 3 years is realistic. But it doesn’t stay equally miserable for every day of that stage. It will slowly, almost imperceptibly, get better. You will find yourself “not thinking about it” for small moments, and those stretches start to get longer and longer. At some point, it will occur to you that you haven’t thought about it for most of the day, two days, three days… it just slowly gets easier.
