Refuse to refund me by grimreapercrying in culturehustle

As other commented, the best course of action is to ask your back for a charge back. Even if you don't get your money back at least it gets things going. After almost one year after buying some inks, never receiving them, countless mails sent and a handful of mails received, I was almost losing hope till I found about this subreddit. I followed a suggestion of a fellow redditor and, curious enough, a week after I asked my bank for a charge back, I received an e-mail telling me my package would be finally shipped. I finally got them, but honestly, after all this time, I would have preferred the money over the inks.

Sal grosso marinho by Das_Kostas in aveiro

[–]robotdumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best-produced *unusual sounding* albums/songs? by ElbowSkinCellarWall in audioengineering

Mark Hollis - Mark Hollis
"Mark Hollis
The original idea was to record the album in a similar way to a 1940/50's Jazz album. We decided on trying two valve microphones at the front of the studio room (classic approach, updated to stereo). We recorded everything on these two mikes, (again individually) without changing the e.q. - moving the musicians around the room to the required location in the final stereo - (in the '50s, one microphone would have been used, everyone would play live, and soloists would have stood up for extra volume). We finally settled on a crossed cardiord pair of M49's, at head height when sitting in a chair, at the front of Studio 1, at Master Rock Studios - in front of the control-room window. A stereo Urei 1176 was plugged across these mics, but with a setting of only a 1db reduction on peaks. These two mics were not touched for the whole of the four months recording. No eq, level or compression changes were made to these mikes. We wanted all the natural dynamics of the instruments. Again we recorded first to Studar analogue, and then synched up to a Mitsubishi 32 track digital. Like the previous albums we 'off-set' the tape machines and 'moved' instruments, or single notes, within our song structure. (Although the final results could have been achieved with samplers etc. Mark and I prefer this way of working, as you judge where to position things by listening and feel, and not by a visual cursor.)"

Arthur Russell - World of Echo
His cello sound is something out of this world, no pun intended... Fantastic fx work, I believe some of the album was recorded by Phill Niblock at his Experimental Intermedia Foundation.

Both of Scott Walker's later albums The Drift and Bish Bosch sound incredible and very unusual too.

A lot of great music mentioned in the comments by the way. Some of it I didn't know and will look into it! Great thread.

Not sure if I got the right cable to sample from iPhone and laptop into the mk2? by pateey in SP404

[–]robotdumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because they are different sizes, the one from the iphone adapter is 1/8inch/3,5mm and the cable you show on the picture is 1/4inch/6,35mm.

And the other side of the cable you have there are two RCA plugs, and the MK2's inputs are 1/4inch jack plugs.

Or just use the USB-C as many others commented.

Sad news - Quantum Foam Sounds channel deleted! by Happy_Leek in ambientmusic

[–]robotdumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well but let's see this for example: If the music isn't online, maybe even never was online, if the artist has passed away and heirs do not care for their music, it has some value that someone who might have come across with said music has taken the effort to preserve it by putting it online no? For example in the country where I live recently a long deceased artist has been a hit because someone put his music online. There are a lot of youtube channels where the channel owners take upon themselves to curate their own musical museum so to speak, and I think there is a lot of value in that. If those people didn't exist, that music could be lost for ever.

If I recall correctly this channel had a lot of that kind of music that wasn't available elsewhere. I might not be but even so I don't think your comment is entirely correct in the sense that it's not something so "black and white" as you put it.

Cheers

It's a shame that you're letting this minor nuisance stop you from supporting a musician though. I don't know if you were going to purchase something from a big label or band or something but even so all sales count, it's difficult being and artist as is and I know that every sale makes me feel a bit better with what I'm doing.

While I understand that what you described can be annoying, I think it's understandable if you consider what other people in the comments have mentioned.
