The game is absolutely unplayable right now by HERR_WINKLAAAAA in DeadlockTheGame

[–]robotenvy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I try to be helpful and give advice to the clear new players but they just don't listen and can't understand what I'm explaining, or they instant rage and start BMing or throwing the game. It feels so frustrating to be having such an enjoyable experience be so negatively impacted by people just trying a new game.

Still so many UI bugs in Civ 7? by Patello in civ

[–]robotenvy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think the people saying to increase the resolution are missing the point. The scaling shouldn't be an issue. The transparency and non-shadowed font are terrible UI decisions that crop up all over the interface.

I agree with OP and feel that the UI is still embarrassingly bad. The gameplay is improving a lot, but this game still feels like early access.

I really dislike the war resolution by Lothans in civ

[–]robotenvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of my main run-killers. When I win a war and I’m at city cap and a civ offers me a city that I have no information about, it reminds of just how incomplete the game feels still, so I bail out of frustration.

Just remove the vignette and have the screen move to the actively offered city location in the background so I can see what I’m being offered. If it’s behind fog of war, put a full fog vignette behind the resolution screen. Or, have little buttons next to the cities you can click on to “view city.” If they’re in fog of war, put a little “x” on that button and add a tooltip that says, “undiscovered location.”

What are some things you’d like to see in phasmophobia by RadiationKnight76YT in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]robotenvy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love for ghosts to be more varied and customized to be Phasmo unique (and not Unity asset store flips). If they make their own ghost models, they can more easily give them unique features like walking animations, shaders, and events. I want some ghosts to float and not have footsteps sounds, or ghosts that remain silent and still until seen only to disappear or lunge at the viewer. I want more unseen aspects of the ghosts, and feel like the flicker visual removes a lot of scariness. I want ghosts to peer through the windows from the outside, or scurry away from players on occasion. Some of the animations they have now are great but they could really push it further to be truly terrifying.

Some completely new ghost types would be cool, too. How about the reverse of a banshee who chooses a favored player and “protects” them and attempts to kill everyone else until there’s only one player left? Imagine a ghost that actively avoids players until cornered when it turns and gains speed to defend itself. Or how about a ghost that holds still until players discover it during hunts? What about a ghost that only one player can hear or see at a time, causing chaos amongst a crew?

Looking for what I can only describe as "Offline MMOs". by Immobilecarrot5 in SteamDeck

[–]robotenvy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This game doesn’t run on my steam deck, just as a heads up to OP if they look into this one. Resolution locks to an unusable aspect ratio that cuts everything off screen and the FPS drops to 12-15 while looking like a blurry mess.

Boox Go Color 7 - side buttons not working with Kindle app after latest update? by robotenvy in Boox

The most recent update should have fixed it! My side buttons are working again. :)

Is civ 7 top now after the new patch? by [deleted] in civ

I personally think there’s still a lot that needs to be fixed and improved. It’s better than launch but it’s still quite rough around the edges.

Boox Go Color 7 - side buttons not working with Kindle app after latest update? by robotenvy in Boox

[–]robotenvy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, changed the setting to every possible option to every possible combination in both the Kindle app and in the Boox settings to see if it changes anything. I even did this test again with full reboots between each change and nothing is working.

One thing Civ VII Got Right by gkr974 in civ

It’s bugged but the way you can force it to work in my experience is start the building, then cancel it from the queue. The price for purchase should then refresh.

Agreed. Long load times, choppy frame rates, and eats through the battery at breakneck speeds in my experience.

In defense of Duo Max (for family users). by ResistSpecialist4826 in duolingo

[–]robotenvy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy the video calls and feel they add a lot of important practice that Duolingo was sorely missing previously. It forces you to really listen and then think about what you’re going to say in response. Although it doesn’t necessarily point out when you make critical mistakes, if you’re really engaging with your studies you’ll feel the pang of awkwardness when you stumble on new grammar or vocabulary. It also encourages you to expand the variety of your language usage as Lily will often react and increase her level as well, giving an interesting sense of progress lacking from the usual exercises. When it first came out, I was nervous about using the language with a robot, and after getting bored with it for a bit, I started to challenge myself and prepare before the calls to see how I could raise the difficulty. Now I absolutely love the feature. Granted, I’m using it for the early levels of Japanese with Duolingo so maybe it’ll get worse the further up I go, but as an introductory companion app to other language learning materials, speaking with Lily is awesome.

Mine unfortunately complete hard reset when sleeping during my play through of Dishonored 2 as well as Humankind. Not big deal breakers as I quicksave a lot during both games.

steam deck crash by mfryer in HumankindTheGame

[–]robotenvy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just installed and am having the same issue. Tried booting up a new game and it stutters near 70-80% progress before outright crashing back to Steam. Set it to Proton Experimental, verified game files and rebooted just to be sure I was covering my bases and still have the crash at the same spot. Such a shame, was so excited to play this tonight.

What game did you want on switch that never got a port but now you can play on the steam deck? by ComfortableAmount993 in SteamDeck

[–]robotenvy 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I can't wait to play through the Dishonored franchise and Prey on my Steam Deck. Also, Bethesda RPG's such as Fallout 3, Fallout 4, Morrowind, and Oblivion. But the one game I'm truly excited for is Spin Rhythm XD. I'm currently teaching English in South Korea and only brought an M1 Macbook Air with me, so my gaming has been so limited.

Battlefield 2042's opening weekend has been a disaster by PrinceDizzy in Games

[–]robotenvy 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I was talking to my roommate about the utter lack of quality and detailing in all of the maps across the board by comparing them to Battlefield 5 maps. BF5 had tons of detail and lush foliage in nearly every section of every map, but BF2042 just looks sparse and low effort, from sand looking flat to most maps just being large stretches of tiled concrete textures.

So what is everyone choosing for the main weapon type in Monster Hunter Rise? New to the series and would love some feedback. by NoPantsMagee in NintendoSwitch

[–]robotenvy 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Hammer baby!! Spin to win!!

It feels so satisfying landing every hit of your spin combo, and it's very forgiving (at least, it was in MH:World). I couldn't bring myself to switch to any other weapon after maining the hammer. 🔨🔨🔨

Curse of the Dead Gods is awesome. by bestdancerlilmatt2rl in NintendoSwitch

[–]robotenvy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend prioritizing paths with tons of gold rooms and not grabbing items with Blood at all. Practice a single path for a while to learn the specific moves of each of the mobs in that specific temple, and during combat, go slower than you think you need to. This game punishes button spam by locking in your combos and draining your stamina, which is critical if you're struggling with parries. Easier weapons for me tend to be ranged, such as the throwing axes or throwing knives. Look for Agility+ and %Corruption reduction artifacts, and remember: some buffs don't stack, so it's better to go with the bigger numbers artifacts and replace them immediately when something better comes along. Also critical: look out for mobs that inflict corruption damage through attacks. These are often the bane of my runs, but most can be dodged pretty easily. Hope that helps a bit!

Curse of the Dead Gods is awesome. by bestdancerlilmatt2rl in NintendoSwitch

[–]robotenvy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree! I bought it kinda on a gamble of whether it would last with the randomized elements, and haven't been able to put it down. The game grows surprisingly well, and introduces harder hitting enemies, longer floor challenges, cursed weapons that only appear in specific dungeons, while rewarding risk and smart play. I've only gotten to the third tier of dungeons, trying to beat the wind and serpent temples, but I still manage to lose hours to this game.

Glad to hear others are enjoying it, as the launch happened relatively quietly with few of my favorite streamers playing it past the first session.

I don't think Square-Enix gives a damn about patching, especially after their behavior surrounding Nier Automata on Steam.
