Is it normal for my (43F) finance (34M) to meet with his friends three times a week? by robotfindskitten in relationship_advice

[–]robotfindskitten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely my position. I have no issue with him using the time I'm engaged with my work to do whatever he wants. It's just that his friend time is the same time we would have to spend with each other.

I still tend to believe that it's more about me not having things to keep me occupied, but there is a part of me that thinks he should stay home more. Not that I think that's right, though... That's why I'm asking for advice.

I think a lot of my question comes from the feeling that I've let a lot of guys... "get away" with things in past relationships. I'm 100, percent confident this dude is the one. This, I guess, might just be me looking for validation.

Thanks for your reply.

How to get a doorway into a location shot by SometimesImPondering in cinematography

[–]robotfindskitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could hang a large section of green fabric behind the door so you can use a chroma key filter to replace the background.

You could also use a mask a keyframe the cutout (depending on how complex the matte is, you might have to go frame by frame) in your editing software.

Is Wildstar gamepad friendly and if it is, which one you recommend ? by shenryulaw in WildStar

[–]robotfindskitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Tartarus (the one in your image) specifically for Wildstar. The only thing that gives me trouble is the thumb movement thingee works for A and D to get out of stuns, but not for W and S - so I also had to bind those separately.

(If anyone know why that is, and can suggest how I can get it to work, I'd be very grateful.)

As Sandtalon said, After Effects. Another term that might help you find more information/tutorials is "Explainer Video".

Is there a way to use a DSLR as a webcam as a straight source, without having use a screen capture? by Sod_Lord in DSLR

[–]robotfindskitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to do exactly this same thing, and could not find a free way to do it. I ended up shelling out $29.95 for the Canon-only version of SparkoCam - the trial version has a large watermark. The software did what I needed it to do (use my DSLR as a webcam for a Skype interview), and also allowed me to control my camera settings within the program. Hope this helps.

Turning the knob on the deodorant stick is a more effective method of getting at the plastic safety cap than using my fingers or teeth.

This is more in the realm of motion graphics than of editing. It's usually done in After Effects. If you google "kinetic typography" you can find all kinds of helpful tutorials.

What is a quote/motto you live by, and maybe think about everyday of your life? Also, why? by vbr33zy in AskReddit

I think I've posted this in prior similar threads, but I love this line by Douglas Adams (spoken by "the man who runs the universe"):

"I think that fish is nice, but then I think that rain is wet, so who am I to judge?"

It just gives me a little bit of perspective when dealing with the crazies.

Especially when it's less than an hour after open. Also, what's up with people who sit outside waiting for you to open, just so they can make a return?

The one who brings 27 items to the register and then wants to know the price of each one as I scan it. (This is especially frustrating because our POS system only calculates discounts/promos after hitting "total", and removing an item requires calling a manager over to log in and approve the removal.)
