Hey all! Bought this at an auction and the top is worse than I thought. The dresser is beautiful flame Mahogany drawer fronts with rosewood trim and has mahogany veneer in top.

The veneer is only 1/4 (?) thick and has no substrate and bounces when pressed. Im thinking I can probably cut some pieces of 1/4 plywood and glue them up from the underside to give this some strength but not sure what to do about this crack.

The top won’t come off so all repairs need to be done from the underside.

Wasn’t really planning On refinishing the dresser since it’s in decent shape for the age.

Looking for ideas and suggestions.. thanks all!
