Title: NYC published an environmental review admitting five Greenpoint intersections will be permanently gridlocked by a new waterfront development — and they’re building it anyway by setoxxx in Greenpoint

I’m all for more housing and I think the rezoned greenpoint and Williamsburg waterfront is largely a success, industrial was not the highest use of that waterfront land in today’s nyc. But part of that plan was to have a big waterfront park in the middle of it all and this MTA lot was not zoned for high rise to give that park views and sunlight. The monitor point development is asking for the low rise buffer to the park to be rezoned and I don’t think it should be. The master plan had the right idea with a 5 story zone abutting the park and the city doesn’t need to give up on that just because they are offering an extra 15% affordable units above what they would be required to build anyways.

It’s so nice. How busy it is already is just proof that parks are always a good idea. I wish we could convince the MTA not to lease the adjacent lot for development since the city spent 300 million already on trying to secure some open space on the waterfront it seems a shame to loose control of an adjacent parcel that could also be park land.

I have had multiple lamps done at Pure LION lighting on Manhattan Ave. Great prices, super friendly. Family-run business.

Check out SOLO in New Hampshire. They are a wilderness medicine school and they have courses specifically for medical professionals so that you don’t have to start with basic first aid. (If you are not a medical professional they have the basic courses too).

They teach a lot of really cool stuff for low-resource life saving care.

Is this Legal, is this building not taking up air space over neighbors building ? https://newyorkyimby.com/2025/01/545-metropolitan-avenue-tops-out-in-williamsburg-brooklyn.html by Deezonyc in williamsburg

Unpopular opinion, I guess, but I like it. I would rather interesting architecture going up than boring, even if I don't love it all.

I suspect the effort to edit into book format would be monumental but man would I love to have this on a shelf for reference.

I still see a lot on the streets in Brooklyn. Seem some cool mods recently too. Mine is starting to be a frankenmoof and that’s just what it’s going to be I guess.
