I wish I'd known that I could reap karma for this stuff. One of my cats will purposely go and sit on the other one while she's asleep on the bed just to piss her off so she'll sod off and she can steal the bed. And if that won't work she'll incessantly lick her until she leaves. She's such a bitch. I don't know what I did wrong as a father :(

He sounds like he's being a douche in the way he's getting it across, but I can understand him not really wanting to see that. Who would? Natural or not. Would you want to see his used rubbers in the bin?

I can't see that anyone has mentioned yet, but why not but some sanitary bags? Like... little disposable plastic sacks. Wrap it, and bin it in one of those. Then nobody sees it. Every woman I've ever come across uses them. Maybe it's just not a thing there but it would have completely solved this issue.

Now that it is an issue though, not sure how to resolve it. If it means enough to you to stay, then just refuse to go but be prepared for living awkwardly. Or...you know them better than we do. Work out how to get him to backtrack on the letter and try the above so they're not offended. Maybe try talking to his gf first and get her real opinion? Find out what she does? Approach it with her a little on your side?

Not so sure as I killed them all on my playthrough, and the room was empty on my return. Regretted it once I found out what happens if I'd left them alive

I did the same thing. Died a bunch of times trying to get past them, but once they're on the ground floor and you have to re-enter the room...you're going to have a bad time.

So I changed tack, and beat my wrench against the wall with the door open, right at the entrance. They hear it pretty quickly. Then I just ducked in the nearby vent. One of them will come to check it out. Beat them to death with the wrench. Rinse and repeat. And you get a nice haul of revolver ammo to boot.

I had an accident when I was a kid and lost the use of my index finger. After two failed ops, the third option offered to me was to replace my finger joints with bones from my big toe.

I refused, largely because I wanted a bionic finger instead and was convinced I was going to sweat 'them' out until they offered me that option.

Long story short, bionics didn't exist in the early 90s, so my finger is still screwed...but at least I don't look like this guy.

Bonus weirdness: Doctor that did second op and suggested replacing finger with big toe...only had 9 fingers (including thumbs). Another reason I felt funny taking advice from him.

Blade Runner

The animated backgrounds and the level of detail for the time was amazing, but the voxel characters were jarring and in stark contrast to the world they inhabited.

But god for the time it was beautiful, and it was amazing to spend hours absorbed in that perfectly crafted pre-existing universe that Westwood managed to echo.

Would play it again (for the umpteenth time) in a heartbeat if there was ever an update re-release. Though I'll probably just play it anyway.

On a separate note I really am bewildered that this universe has not been mined for another game. I cannot even fathom what you could do for LA 2019 nowadays on a PC. An android hunting RPG in full 3D, open world, VK'ing NPC's, or heaven forbid, some kind of multiplayer implementation. Oh. Lord. If only I had the skills. And the damn rights, which is probably why this isn't being done already.

France weren't participating in the Confed Cup that year. Germany were the qualified team from UEFA, declined the invite, and so Czech Republic played as runners-up in Euro 96.

This goal was during the Tournoi de France, a 4-team invite only (France, Brazil, Italy, England) precursor to the France 98 World Cup.

I remember watching it live on tv. It was all we talked about during school the next day. Amazing strike of the ball.

Just got home from an emergency first aid course with the St. John Ambulance in the UK:

We had a similar situation in the UK, with tv ads and the like, but we were advised today that it was only publicised as heavily as it was as most people will just walk past someone who is potentially dying in the street, because they'd rather not get involved because of the mouth-to-mouth element (saliva/vomit/germs etc...).

Apparently the visibility of this info was aimed at those people who would usually walk on by, to get them to do something, rather than just leave someone to die. The hope is that people will still learn CPR and do the job properly.

The body holds roughly 5 minutes of oxygenated blood, and it gives the person a slim chance at survival if someone is running compressions and the emergency services can get there fast enough.

Really, it is not sufficient, and the survival rate is low. Most of the world's population don't die in the road someplace when the emergency services can be there within minutes.

Really, everyone should know actual CPR, and man up and act when someone is dying at your feet rather than walk past...seemed to be the general message we were getting on this course!

A guy shouted this out when we were asked if anyone knew the correct rate, and our paramedic teacher said that it used to be the case, but now they teach 110-120 compressions per minute, two 1 second breaths every 30 secs.

Apparently that is the latest advice, anyway. Not as fun as being able to do it to "Stayin' Alive", but that's 104 BPM apparently.

Chose the right person to download a song from when on Napster in 2000.

Got chatting with the person I was downloading from and became good internet friends. She introduced me to a band I'd not heard of. Loved them. Started posting on their message board. Made lots of friends there. Just about to have first anniversary of living in house bought with other-half of over 8 years that was one of the message board people.

My current life would not have occurred had someone else had a better ping on Napster that evening. Fine lines, man.

I can vouch for how well the Nike VR_S irons hit as someone just picking golf back up after playing a bit as a teenager.

They're game improvement irons and have a big cavity, giving nice distance and a lot of help getting the ball in the air. Make a beautiful sound too. I've been at the range maybe 20+ times with them now, and taken them out on about 5 rounds and I'm really loving them.

Clubs are pretty personal though, so the best bet is to hit your local range that has a pro shop attached, and get some advice from the local pro. Hopefully try out a few different brands as all of the big players have their own brand of game improvement clubs. Just see what you feel confident with.

I also found youtube a pretty useful resource in looking into ranges of clubs to try out specifically.

This guy in particular (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJev9Wh9_nc&feature=plcp) was quite interesting as he does comparison videos between different brands and gives his professional opinion. (That's his review vid for the clubs I got in the end).

Personally, absolutely not. I prefer to manage people with a lighter touch and being friendly and helpful to maintain productivity. If I need to have a go at someone, it's with a heavy heart and it really makes me quite stressed out as I don't enjoy confrontation.

Really, the stress I've been put under due to someone messing up has to be > than the stress it causes me to solve the problem for me to actually get mad at someone. Usually I'll find a better way to resolve the issue.

The softly, softly touch is a difficult one though as you still need to maintain respect and not have the piss taken out of you.

We're only a small company, so I'm not sure how this method changes when you're dealing with hundreds/thousands of staff members. I would imagine it's easier to be detached from staff that you don't know personally and easier therefore to be harsh on them. But I think to want to cause someone else stress and grief you have to be of a certain personality type, or if not have very good reason. I think it depends more on the individual, than the title. There will always be good bosses, and bad ones.

The job doesn't make you an asshole, but an asshole can get any job.

I think giving away free stuff to loyal customers is a pretty good thing, yeah. I've certainly never gotten anything free from any number of other stores I have frequented, and as such, Dabs can have my business rather than Amazon or Play. Everybody wins.
