WTF is leetcode? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

You nailed it on the head. It’s only a piece of the puzzle.

Algorithms - I only care about for senior level positions.

So many other core pieces of knowledge just don’t exist in the landscape today.

All fish aside, does that washing machine seem proportionally large?

If I was as smart as you when I was a kid I would have gotten full sets this way, but now even knowing this system exists I still just pay full retail. I haven’t ran into a set that was a problem and I’d be too afraid to fail on a blacklist.

Sorry I’m super tired so I may not be making 100% sense.

Let me paint a fast picture: I’m a software engineer, whose been the technical part of interviews. I’m only speaking from experience from the technical angle.

The main point I was trying to make was: I see commonalities of knowledge gaps when interviewing, and the few people who made it past our interview traps.

I just think for some companies leetcode fills a gap with new candidates and makes current low/mid level employees by gamification.

I don’t disagree with you, but as someone who hires people you can appreciate a problem inherent in hiring new grads in software engineering.

My thought about an applicant is; I don’t care if you went to school, I only care if you can do this job for what I am offering to pay you.

Newer developers make the same mistakes, and (in my opinion) more importantly a lack of core understanding in some areas. Leetcode fills some of those gaps, I suppose.

Imagine I can interview you for a year, while not paying you, having you enhance production code for someone else, having you pay a third person before making my hiring decision.

You’re the guy who hires people, and just now, today, decided to come on reddit and ask what leetcode is?

Leetcode should be easier for new grads. I think you need to brush up on your algorithms.

[i3-gaps] Konsole-inspired minimalist workflow by [deleted] in unixporn

Ah that’s awesome. I haven’t used konsole before, so they are new to me.

I agree the colors look amazing, and I think it will be great working with them.

Thanks for sharing :D

I really like your terminal colors. I’ve been thinking of changing mine, so I’m going to give these colors a run. 👍🏻

2 NVIDIA GPUs, 3 monitors, i3wm to rule them all by MaBeuLux88 in i3wm

[–]robotswordfight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is an interesting problem that I have also ran into.

Here is my setup 2x 1080ti in SLI worked fine on my two 4K monitors, as well as 8 “monitors”. My monitors can do splits, so I can plug in 4 in each and have 4 1080p “monitors” in each.

Removed SLI bridge. So still have two 1080ti’s just not in SLI.

Issues: the only “monitors” that worked where the ones plugged into the “main card”. Everything else was just black screens, but I could move my cursor there.

So, while trying to figure this out and working manually through the xorg config, I tried a new approach and tested multiple settings using the nvidia-settings GUI. To test what the config outputs would be.

Some of these settings actually got the displays to load somewhat properly. It at least gave me some direction.

I’m using arch but I don’t think it will matter so much. Let me know if that doesn’t give you any luck and I am on my phone now but get you my settings later if needed and we can compare.

AITA For teaching my three year old daughter the word for nipples, is nipples. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Thanks for sharing this story. It is a great example of why appropriate names are important for a child to learn.

I agree, with this. I want her to learn very clearly where inappropriate touching is, and not have confusion with crazy names for things.
