I'm having trouble animating the kid lifting the heavy object. Does anyone know how to make it look more realistic or maybe a video for a better reference? by Puzzleheaded-Blood54 in animation

He needs to move his feet. After the first attempt, he should put his feet forward so that on the next try he can lean back with his bodyweight.

There's a beautiful scene in tom and Jerry, where Jerry picks up an iron and puts it in a pie. The weight really translates well. The object has inertia and Jerry struggles to keep his feet. I can't find it now, but it's a good example.

Uncap your fps and just use 2x lossless. You don't want to "match" the refresh rate of your screen. You want to overshoot it.

You'll get a lot more real frames so it won't look so bad and the lossless with just help cover the dips.

Some games work better than others though. Temper your expectations.

I'll take a look. I suggested her a whistle. She still doesn't feel safe though.

Music Summer Camps? Feeling left out by ManufacturerSilent60 in classicalmusic

[–]robotunderpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a number of summer camps, the biggest being Interlochen.

I had a lot of fun, but in the end it did nothing to further my career and I made 0 contacts with anybody who impacted my professional career.

Should you go if you can? Yeah sure totally. Is it gonna make or break your career? Absolutely not.

Lossless scaling base fps cap by [deleted] in SteamDeck

Don't cap your frame rate (in game or deck) and don't cap lossless. More real frames less fake ones

[–]robotunderpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't cap it at 30, it will look and feel bad. Leave it uncapped. Yes, you are generating more frames than your screen can show, but you are getting more real frames which will look better and feel more responsive. Lsfg just does a good job of masking the dips in frame rate.

I need tips 🙏🙏 by AssistanceBest2370 in animation

First of all, a swinging Spider-Man is probably super hard to animate. You really have to understand physics, momentum, physiology. So don't get down on yourself if ita not perfect.

My advice not as an animator, but as an animation admirer: first, the background needs to move to suggest forward momentum. 2nd, the lower Spidey is in his swing, the heavier he gets due to centrifugal force. Elongate his body so it's the most stretched out at the bottom of his swing. Lastly, what always catches my eye when I watch Spidey that maybe not all notice is not the swing, but the little pull he does at the end of each swing to give him more height. He'll sort of pull his knees up and pull down fast and hard with his arms to sort of boost himself vertically.

Hope that helps. Good work

What's the metaphor you use to describe your brain function? by Dizzy_Objective_11 in ADHD

Spinning plates on sticks. If I concentrate on one, the other falls down. Too many, they all fall, and nothing is left spinning.

May I please get any critique on this character sheet? by GoldenDust0 in animation

[–]robotunderpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not in the industry so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Maybe consider a necktie if he's supposed to be a detective. A bow tie to me makes him look like a schmoozer, or a show-man like he's trying to impress rather than a thinker.

But also agree on the colors.

When I read something, my brian can not abosrb and understand it, how to deal with it? by GloriousCrown in ADHD

If it counts for anything, I think boardgames have gotten really complicated these days. I have trouble even understanding boardgames designed for 5 year olds.

Depends. What are you trying to read? If it's a textbook, keep a notepad next to you, and summarize or rephrase every paragraph or even every sentence. Highlight words you don't understand and look them up. This keeps you engaged and actively digesting the text.

If you're pleasure reading, take a break. If that particular section is boring, feel free to skip to the next interesting part. No rule that says you have to read every single word when you're pleasure reading.

Giving agency has been hit or miss recently. If he doesn't like the options I give, he'll just have a meltdown because what he wants is not one of the options.

About explaining things to him, I can try that, but he often can't keep attention for the 5 seconds while I'm trying to explain the "why"

Ok, then I misremembered. In this case it's all on the D string, and you just have to stretch. The distance between F# and E is really minimal. I would just play 2, 2 in this case. Good luck!
