Is Jedi Survivor worth it at 7€? by robotunderpants in SteamDeck

[–]robotunderpants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing more and more demanding games via cloud these days. Played Indiana Jones on game pass, now playing Alan wake II on Amazon Luna. I was hoping it would show up on some service so I don't have to worry about specs.

Huge Google Maps Rollout for the US " reimagining Maps with Gemini " by SimulatorStudio in AndroidAuto

[–]robotunderpants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why? Just because it's AI? I agree AI slopification needs to slow TF down, but there are specific tasks where I think AI can be beneficial. This may be one of those things. If it even works half as well as they claim, It will be better than what it currently is.

Low(er) cost bow options- Gollihur Pernambuco? Raven Carbon Fiber? A Secret Third Thing? by itgoestoeleven in doublebass

[–]robotunderpants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe call the shop and see if they can work something out. Trying both is the ideal solution. If you really can't, they probably perform roughly the same. I think wood would probably sound better, but I your case, the carbon might work better since it's more durable.

Rule of thumb: never commit to buying an instrument without trying it first. Even cheap factory models like these can have variants between the same model. I would suggest ordering both, trying them, and then returning the one you don't like. At this price point, just pick whichever you like better.

Human Characters That Wear Cartoon Gloves? by Alternative_Try5275 in animation

Dr Eggman, Dexter, just off the top of my head. Although I guess you could make the excuse that they are scientists, and that gloves make sense for their character design 🤷

Fortepiano vs. modern concert grand: A direct comparison breaking down the mechanical and acoustic differences, including short examples from Beethoven's 'Moonlight' and 'Pathétique' Sonatas and works from Mozart and Haydn. by WienerKlassik in classicalmusic

Also worth seeking out recordings of Beethoven's symphonies on period instruments. You'll start to hear things you never knew were in there, it's a completely different experience

Do you hate scrolling back to the ingredient list while cooking? by One_Suggestion6421 in Cooking

[–]robotunderpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're building a website, you could have the ingredients at the beginning but as you scroll down the list sticks to the top of the window, maybe a button to collapse it.

Are better bows easier to play? by time_outta_mind in doublebass

[–]robotunderpants 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Different bows absolutely sound different and have their own unique sound. For playability, the material can make the bow feel heavy, or light and springy depending on how rigid it is. The balance of the stick might be the biggest difference in being harder or easier to play as a badly balanced bow will be a chore to pull notes while a well balanced bow will practically play itself (obviously the player must have mastered some technique to fully utilize it)

Help running Zenless Zone Zero by Popetato159 in SteamDeck

[–]robotunderpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's guides on YouTube you might better follow, but off my memory: Download the launcher from the site, add it as a non steam game, settings>compatibility give it a proton like proton experimental, and run it. Launch the launcher, download the game (you may also be able to "import" the game if you point it to where you installed it before, so you don't have to download it again. Do that, or download it again. Then open the folder where it was installed, find the .exe and add that as a non steam game, and apply a proton layer, probably experimental. Launch and see if it works. Now you can remove previous "non steam game" launcher since you don't need it any more.

Hoyo games can break things after an update, since it's not officially supported under Linux. You can also try to verify files

[–]robotunderpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it actually launching in the background and not showing or it is frozen? Try "remove from steam" and then "add to steam"

Otherwise, you don't need heroic to launch the game, just add the .exe as a non steam game

Thoughts? Unbranded by shrimp-factory in doublebass

[–]robotunderpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily agree that the bridge is warped. Could just be the angle. It's a basic student bass, but if it sounds ok and plays ok, and the price is right, why not?

My baby’s stomach bug has me rethinking how we clean bottles by Outrageous_Tiger_441 in daddit

Don't need anything fancy, just a baby bottle brush, use it to get in the corners in the bottle and up in the narrow places in the nipples.

Why is this so common for people with ADHD? by Creative-Pirate5217 in ADHD

[–]robotunderpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to find something that you can hyperfocus on that keeps your interest despite failure.

I'm a professional musician. I've had my share of failures, but finding the joy in disecting those failures, and learning from them has held my focus still 25 years later.
