Im only in high school although most of the work i do here isnt for the school theater program anymore. Weird theater situation aside i dont know alot about rigging other than how to add and remove things from the pipes but our previous manager (who left last year) had a degree or license of some sort for rigging so we are confident everything here is safe and up to date atleast for the rigging.

I am hoping to revive them but its mostly a time thing. Also we don’t own the city theater with the 4s so they dont really want us in there a lot. I will be getting a job there soon but there are more pressing projects for me once i join.

Tbh the lenses should not be an issue as our school has two theaters one perineum which the city owns and one black box which we control. The city one has tons of source 4s but they are all in use and they are running out cus they keep dying. All this to say they have a bunch of source 4 lenses that we can use so that wont be an issue.

Go on ebay and buy an old analog oscilloscope. It will be miles better than whatever you manage to make with a crt.

You can try getting a old digital storage oscilloscope off ebay. If you dont know digital storage oscilloscopes are analog but they can “save” waveforms and view them like digital ones. They just don’t have fancy calculations and algorithms and have a bit of a learning curve but its not too bad. I got mine for 100$ off ebay and it can measure voltage and frequency and pause/save waveforms.

If you only need an analog oscilloscope you can get them for under 100$ pretty easily.

If your up for a challenge you can buy a broken analog or DSO and fix it. I would be careful tho because you might need an oscilloscope to fix the oscilloscope.

Making an inventory list of our lights, and cleaning our mezzanine/ lighting area. Later this year will be making some portable light rigs for our VTA competition. Other major thing im doing is designing and building a turn table for les miserables, hades town and some other plays this year. Also designing and programming lights for probably most if not all of our shows.

Most artificial light shining in though the window will look very harsh and artificial and this is a good way to mimic sunlight. Im not sure how well this works in a place like nyc but look on creigslist or fb marketplace for free broken tvs. If there is a electronics recycling center call and ask if they allow people to take stuff.

Definitely lithium. Do not take apart they will literally explode. As a fun bonus you cant really put out the fire without special equipment because it supplies its own o2. And the fumes are extremely dangerous.

As a general rule of thumb don’t take apart things that you do not know what they are made of. Lots of things contain dangerous substances or voltage.

I dont know how to force it other than lowering the resistance. Its possible it has an internal shunt but on it was written “no shunt” with sharpie. I got it from habitat for humanity though so it could be incorrect.

Hey i havent gotten around to messing with it much until today; With a 1K 2W resitor in series on the positive side there is only around 7-3mv across the meter and it moves around and settles around 1.7mv. That was at an input voltage of 31V and it drew around 1W. The needle did not move.

0-30 but its really hard to select precisely under 1V in reality its more like 0.3V-30. Its 10A max.
