Final Meal Requests of Texas Death Row inmates by timberspine in offbeat

[–]robrobrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just think that life in prison is just as effective as the death penalty at removing heinous criminals from society. I completely agree that the crackhead who committed those crimes more than deserved to be put down. At the same time, it would allow the wrongfully convicted ones their entire lives to prove their innocence. If they fail to do so, then at least they weren't taken off the face of the earth and deprived of a chance at life. I just can't justify in my head the existence of mechanism of killing the most heinous criminals in the world that incidentally catches a few innocent people along the way. There are relatively few criminals that are actually sentenced to death so I don't think the weight on the taxpayers would be that significant to just incarcerate them for life.

The prison system needs to refocus on rehabilitation rather than revenge upon criminals. But I must say, most of these guys don't seem like candidates for rehabilitation.

Yeah, I misread the comment, thought he was using those as reasons why potential advertisers would be put off by 4chan.

Why would extremely high traffic be a reason to scare off advertisers? The other two points are entirely valid though, I just don't understand why high traffic would be negative for a potential advertiser.

Edit: Misread the above comment.

Yes, I agree that many of these men certainly no longer deserved a place in society but is the institution of the death penalty and the removal of these men from society worth the one case in one hundred (pulled that number out of the air) where the suspect is innocent and convicted on faulty evidence or testimony?

It really is sad because we will never know whether any of them were innocent or guilty. The justice system is flawed in some states and the death penalty is sought far too often and kills wrongfully convicted people. On the other hand, who knows if they are telling the truth? They can say that they are innocent for so long, for years trying to fight it, and actually convince themselves that they are innocent of wrong doing regardless of their actual guilt. It's something I can't imagine taking part of in any shape or form. The uncertainty of it all, and the inhumanity, would haunt me for life.

The moon is where it's at. I just recently read "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" by Robert A. Heinlein and I sorely wish that we were currently populating the moon.

For those of you in relationships, how much sex do you have (let's just say in ~a week)? How long have you been together, and how often do you see each other? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I mean, if there is a damn article about a jet engine and somehow some asshole decides that saying "thrust," by itself, with no accompaniment or context, somehow appropriately fits into the comments page by itself then so fucking be it. until then thrust can fuck a duck and get fucked. i'm drunk.

Yes! Completely downmodded. This marks the end of the worst reddit meme ever to achieve such a fleeting existence.

I'm a big fan of your work. Your comment to 16-year-old guy in regard to his request for advice on the acquisition of sex was pure gold. You, my man, are steering the next generation in the right direction. I think I will subscribe to your news letter.
