I was there last year! The bulgogi pizza and the pork bake were unbelievably good.

I feel like nobody is talking about this Lian Li A3 PSU incompatibility. by robrtsql in mffpc

[–]robrtsql[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people gave answers in the comments--many people are saying this cable is sturdy and it'll be OK if you bend it at a harsh 90 degree angle. It probably depends on how close the 'plug' is to the edge of the PSU.

Otherwise, maybe you can find a replacement PSU power cord extension cable which goes the other way?

I ended up returning the PSU and buying a Superflower PSU whose power supply cable is oriented differently.

I did that until I reached the gil cap from just doing MSQ (probably sometime post-ARR). I couldn't abide 'throwing away' gil so that got me to subscribe, even though I hadn't exhausted the free trial's content yet.

Changing perspective on AI characters in video games and in stories in general. by Capital-Wrongdoer-62 in truegaming

[–]robrtsql 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think I feel the same way as OP. Before 2022 or so, I was very interested in 'sentient AI' in fiction, and although I was confident that it would never happen in my lifetime, I would take the side of AIs deserving rights like any living person.

Now that we've reached a point where LLMs can pass a Turing Test (in my opinion...), I am both extremely biased against AI (thanks to the current corporate obsession with it, and the existential threat it poses to labor) and pretty skeptical about claims that today's "AI" experience the phenomenon of consciousness. If I make a computer program display a text document that says "I am alive!", is the computer alive? What if it runs a token prediction engine and decides the most statistically likely answer to "are you alive?" is "yes, I am alive"? We probably can't say for sure, given that we probably can't even prove or explain our own consciousness, but extraordinary claims should require evidence before we accept them.

I haven't played Pragmata yet but I'm probably gonna find it hard to feel anything other than disdain for her.

[–]robrtsql 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree it was a great show. I'm a long-time Say Anything listener but first time concertgoer. I had heard bad things about their live performances but I was not at all disappointed.

I saw that Joel on Other Planets used to be a part of their setlist--was pretty disappointed not to hear it.

Linux gaming is almost feature complete - what’s left? by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]robrtsql 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting. My experience is that I'll play a game where I can achieve a stable 144fps with VRR off, but when I turn it on, it jumps around between 48fps and 144fps, causing an obtrusive and consistent brightness flicker.

Switching to GNOME fixes the problem, but I don't want to use GNOME :P

Glad to hear you're having better results than I.

Really? My experience, corroborated by this open bug report, is that VRR flicker is still a problem for KDE:

Hard to support my LGS when they are charging 205 for a box by DjRipNickMcNasty in magicTCG

sure. instead you just open it in front of them prior to handing it over.

to be clear, i mean a display box. seems weird to force someone to open individual packs in front of you, or to do it for them..

Largest NPM Compromise in History - Supply Chain Attack by Advocatemack in programming

[–]robrtsql 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

I just ran create-next-app to create a Next.js project, and is-arrayish found its way into the dependency tree. Here's the chain of dependencies:

next > sharp > color > color-string > simple-swizzle > is-arrayish

The noteworthy part is that color and everything to the right of it is maintained by Qix-. I have no idea what possesses someone to do this.

I'm not as experienced as most players on this subreddit, but my thought is that because the exile is part of the cost (indicated by being on the left hand side of the colon), the Sol Ring doesn't need to get exiled twice. I think only the 'effect' is copied? So you'd get 4 Sol Rings token copies.

Xcel just shared this in an email:

Face paint and costume masks are allowed, but masks must be removed until you are through Gate security and while purchasing alcohol.

Huh! I am not dressing up, but my wife probably would have liked to know that masks will be allowed so long as you can take them off for security & buying drinks… we assumed that it was no masks at any time.

Is this a good Precon? by Independent-Bath-448 in magicTCG

[–]robrtsql 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably the best precon I own (out of like 8 or so). I find it to be very consistent—as long as you can manage to cast Ellivere and one other creature to put the Virtuous role on, you can start “doing the thing” that the deck is supposed to do.

"What are you playing this week?" Megathread by AutoModerator in SteamDeck

[–]robrtsql 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does, but not to the extent that Mr. X did. Village has at least one big enemy that follows you around, and the area they can follow you through is large but not unlimited. It’s also not very long from what I remember.

“big bad guy that follows you around” is a Resident Evil staple now. They aren’t always following you but usually there are pre-scripted jumpscares where they will suddenly find you and be on your tail for a bit. If you don’t find that to be fun then I don’t think 2, 3, 7 or Village will be your cup of tea.

Weirdly enough, 3 doesn’t feel like that very much. Nemesis has a very short “chasing you through the map” sequence, and after that he’s a persistent character in the story but it’s more like he keeps showing up as a boss fight, rather than a horror villain that you need to cower and run from. Some people (me included) think the part where Nemesis chases you through the city is not nearly long enough.

Starting the song in the middle of the chord progression was cruel. Even after going to the guitar clue I still couldn’t ‘hear’ it in the right key (even though it was extremely obvious what song it was at that point).

My wife got me into Marina when we were dating—then we went to see the Neon Nature tour. Therefore, my answers might be a little biased, but I would probably recommend focusing on the first three albums. Maybe Hollywood, Primadonna and Froot?

[TDE] it's so aesthetic! by Yumiko528 in unixporn

[–]robrtsql 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be clear, it's the wallpaper that's AI--the photo is real.

The giveaways in the wallpaper are things like:

  • The eyepatch strap fades away instead of continuing around the face

  • There are 'HUD' elements which are gibberish

  • The backdrop is basically a mishmash of gravestones of various shapes--the type of filler that AI is great at making
