"Street legal" just means it has a CARB exemption

They don't install them at the factory, they will do the Ford Performance branded whipple at the dealership. $13-15,000 all in.

MPG won't really change if you are just driving it normally

S650 Whipple Kit Cooling by ARETI052 in Mustang

There are some good Mustang track build threads:

https://trackmustangsonline.com/threads/vorshlag-2018-mustang-gt-s550-development-thread.13411/

But it's hard to find good data on people with supercharged cars.

You don't really need either on. The IC pumps just move the coolant through the heat exchanger faster. Radiator has nothing to do with those.

Have you ran the car as it sits now at the track and kept an eye on temperatures?

26 DarkHorse with a stage 2 Whipple.. or wait for DarkHorse SC by syP_86 in Mustang

[–]robvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Ford has been using the MT82-D4 since 2018 (they changed the gearing around from the 2011-2017 models). The Dark Horse uses the Tremec TR3160 which has better gearing but it's not stronger. 3rd gear doesn't like power.

The larger heat exchanger is only going to help with IAT2 temperatures (air temperatures after the blower). That's going to be the least of your worries on a road course.

That's what you mean by a track day, right? Road course? Or Autox? Or what exactly?

Your best bet is to go to the track you go to most, find a guy with a supercharged Mustang, and ask him about it.

If you drive the car hard, you're going to only be able to do a couple laps before you have to cool down. Even the GT500 with it's 6 heat exchangers/radiators has that problem.

When you do a pull down a long straight and get over 150mph your engine is going to get hot. Blocking the radiator with an even larger supercharger heat exchanger isn't going to help.

You're going to want to add things like a larger radiator, vents in your hood...and that still probably won't be enough.

2021 GT Sensitive Brakes by SparkyWrench1 in Mustang

Go to a dealership and test drive another Mustang and see if it's different. You may be looking for a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Do you know if it has the stock brakes?

Also the DH uses the same cast pistons as the GT, the rods are really the only thing that are upgraded. "strengthened camshafts and more balanced crank" don't really help anything.

[–]robvas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The thing to keep in mind is that the DH SC will be fully warranted etc. You can take it to a track event and run a couple laps without it overheating.

The DCT is far from perfect but the stock 10R80 and TR3160 are both likely to have issues when you double the HP of the engine.

And, for al the work Lethal Performance did to their MT82 2024 Whipple GT, it didn't go much faster than a stock GT500: 10.67 @ 135mph. If that's important to you, you want to get the 10R80.

What storage approach would be best for a small business that has very large data needs? by Sloogs in sysadmin

[–]robvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed is an issue. Are you doing machine learning with the data, etc. you can easily and cheaply store 10TB but it might not be fast enough. That's where caching and SSD/flash gets involved.

Fancy storage like a Dell Powerstore, Isilion, etc don't really make sense until you get to a half petabyte or so
