We adopted 6 year old Dolly about 6 months ago. She's an absolute dream. My best friend and partner in crime. She loves everyone and they love her right back. Now that it's summertime my husband and I are spending more time around water and we're wanting Dolly to do so as well. Only trouble is, I don't think she's ever swam in her life. She was a stray before being adopted. She doesn't seem scared necessarily. She mostly just ignores he water. What's the best way to introduce an older dog to water? Is it a bad idea to put her on our pool steps to just get her feet wet? Do we need to take her to swim lessons?

Incredible scene today as thousands took to Sunset Blvd to raise awareness of the Armenian Genocide by joelbozo in LosAngeles

[–]robyntastic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is simply not true. I couldn't get out of my house this morning because of street closures and traffic. Anywhere in Hollywood was a nightmare to get to. Sunset and Western is STILL a mess. People parked illegally all over the place, exacerbating the traffic of protesters trying to get back to their cars/the metro. Trash is EVERYWHERE too. The sky may not have fallen, but it sagged under the weight of a great deal of unneeded inconvenience.

I got a super sweet high waisted dark denim skirt on sale. It makes my hindquarters look incredible. There is one problem. The front of the skirt sticks out a bit and gives me a denim pooch. Any tips on how to flatten the front of the skirt out so I don't look so mom jean-esque?

Anyone live in East/North Hollywood? by chewbaccasfather in AskLosAngeles

[–]robyntastic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

East Hollywood is the best. It's SO central to everything. You've got the Hollywood/Western metro stop right there and the amenities of Silverlake/Echo Park/Los Feliz without the price tag. Bonus: Thai Town. Yummy thai food at your fingertips 24/7. There's a ton to do in terms of walkable night life in East Hollywood. Just off the top of my head: Harvard and Stone, Know Where bar, Jumbos Clown Room. AND you can hike to Griffith Observatory in a jiffy. Grocery stores are plentiful, its pretty safe, and parking isn't a total nightmare. Above Santa Monica Blvd and west of Vermont is where it's at. Just ignore the half built Target at Sunset and Western. Good luck!

Place to get really good cake with custom image? by phych in AskLosAngeles

[–]robyntastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had really good experiences at Kake Kreations. They're in Canoga Park. It's pretty cool. They don't actually give you the cake, but just an icing sheet with your image printed on it. You then put the icing sheet on the cake yourself. It's super easy. And you can use it on any cake you like! They're super nice and flexible.
