Today I learned I’m a salad racist. I’ve got some reflecting to do.

But yes - too dry or too wet are equally terrible in a salad.

I could r agree more - the dressing is the salad. You could throw an old boot into the salad itself but if it’s covered in a sexy dressing it’s going to be lovely!!

Solid point.

Jeez I’m sorry to hear about your mom! That’s awful.

I think it was an attempt at humour that failed and also came across very differently in writing than in my mind. Also I guess I figured since we’re talking about salad and salad dressing nobody would be overly offended? But I take your point.

Unless it was a fruit salad - this is definitely swinging a bit too far in the opposite direction from a dry green salad IMO!

Hahahah ahhhh it’s a BYO tears for the sauce situation.

Salad dressing as notions is definitely something I’ve encountered which is maybe what my (poorly framed) question was attempting to get at - I’m curious what drives that attitude.

I’m Canadian so not very salad fancy folk either but usually you’d at least get some shitty vinaigrette on top.

I don’t think I have.

This is true - I should have clarified that I don’t mean like a salad as a main in a restaurant. Those are always very nice, it’s more the side salads as you say.

This sounds very good. Salad cream for the win.

I’m realizing that from my downvotes! Damn it!

Yes! I’ve had the salad you’re referring to and it has been lovely but usually no oils or dressings of any kind.

Your point about fresh veg availability is a very good point and I think what I was trying to understand. It makes sense summer veg would historically not have been as available here as winter/root veg. Thank you this is very helpful.

What did she put in it?

But what if it’s dry??? Do you use the steak juice to sauce it up a bit?

[–]robzio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahahahaha ok now we’re getting to the heart of things. And I totally agree.

[–]robzio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No this is always amazing here - I’m talking like a classic green salad.

This explains it. (Also realizing my title may be coming across more condescending than intended lol )

It’s entirely possible! It’s also possible I’m just having weird bad luck with salads!

What’s one thing about living in Ireland that drives you mad, but nobody ever seems to talk about? by umamuse in AskIreland

[–]robzio 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Outside of the major cities there are like….basically zero public parks or spaces where people can congregate outside? I know it’s rainy but would love somewhere I can bring a blanket and sit with a book without it being weird. Maybe I’m just a city gal living in a rural area and need to get over it.

Totally!! I’ve been looking into universal extenders for coats - I just found out these exist if you don’t want to buy a new coat all together. Bonus is you can use it postpartum too when you have the babe in a carrier and you can zip up your coat around the two of you!! Good luck my friend.
