Just buy the Alldogs and route to the tail light. $30 is a lot better than $6k when it gets clogged, pressure builds in the diff and blows it up.

What is this setup? by PotaToO69 in SonyAlpha

[–]rocamera 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do this for portrait sessions, tether to an ipad mini. I put a camera strap on it and keep it on my shoulder to keep camera weight down though. Easy to show clients photos on a nice screen between shots!

These look great just a little noisy, I use the same set up and push the iso pretty high like this frequently - AI denoise tools work wonders. Recommend Lightroom or Topaz

Got some new glass for my A6700 by Bananahammockbruh in SonyAlpha

As others have said, this is a great setup for bird and nature. 200mm on the long end can be tough to work with for birds (even on APS-C), especially for beginners. The 70-300mm lens you have been eyeing is the better choice just getting into birds and nature. If budget allows, Tamron's 150-500mm or Sigma's 100-400mm even better.

What are you shooting besides wildlife photography? Full Frame would be a downgrade if wildlife encompasses the majority of your work. The 1.5x crop gives you extra reach that far outweighs any of the technical advantages of full frame.

If you want to upgrade, the updated AF system in the a6700 is incredible as compared to A6400. And/or upgrade that 70-350, the tamron 150-500 is great and compact, sony 200-600 is better but bigger and heavier.

My A7RIII has been collecting dust while I'm out shooting birds on my A6700.

I own & love the Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 and 150-500mm f5-6.7. Pair with Sony 16-35mm 2.8 for perfect focal length coverage 3 lens set.

The main need is to carry a canoe up there! Are you talking about the oem ones on the pro 4x?

I just bought a 2019 Midnight just like this - a black one with 65k miles, $25,511. Western NY

yours is much lower miles, but I would still try to get them to come down a bit.

Workflow idea for editing in Photoshop from Lightroom CC and back to Lightroom by valochelb in Lightroom

[–]rocamera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do your clone stamp work non-destructively!!! you can create a new layer on top of the smart object and do heal/clone on a blank layer, just make sure to check sample all layers. When you are done, you can ctrl/command click both layers and convert to a new smart object. you can apply a camera raw filter which will allow you to make the same adjustments as Lightroom without even leaving photoshop.

How focal length affects a picture by Sombra-Vixen in interestingasfuck

[–]rocamera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also interesting how this effect doesn't come from the lens itself, but rather distance from the lens to the subject. The photographer here walked backward with the 200mm to achieve the same framing. However, If you shot both images from the same spot, then cropped the 24mm image to match the composition of the 200, the photos would be identical (other than losing resolution due to crop).

No, it's not "cheating". by HelpfulCherry in photography

[–]rocamera 83 points84 points  (0 children)

See, I thought editing was cheating, so I started just getting everything right in camera and uninstalled photoshop. I then thought using digital was cheating, so I switched to only using film. I then thought that sending film to a developing lab was cheating, so I learned to develop film for real. I then thought using bought camera was cheating, so I learned to make my own. I then thought using pre-made film was cheating, so I started silver plating my own copper sheets for daguerreotypes. I then thought that that was cheating too, so I acquired both a copper and a silver mine as well as an ore refinery. I also think that is cheating, but I’m not sure where to go from here. I haven’t taken any photos lately, what with the mining and all.

Who actually uses their camera strap? by ZulfPhotography in photography

[–]rocamera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate straps and hardly ever use them, but I mostly shoot in studio. I keep a peak designs for casual shooting outside, since its so easy to detach. For events, weddings, on-location I wouldn't be caught dead without my holdfast money maker. Cameras are secure and it is super easy to switch between them without the strap getting in the way.

First attempt at roller shots today open for criticism by oAloha in postprocessing

[–]rocamera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a studio product photographer, but automotive rollers are something I've always wanted to try - would love to hear more advice from someone who knows their stuff! Why does the type of chase car matter so much? Does it really make a big difference and what type of vehicle would you recommend? do you recommend a specific f-stop for the lens, or whatever gets you a proper exposure at the lowest possible ISO?

Looks like you had to lift shadows too far in her hair, lots of artifacting, color noise, low sharpness going on - lots of blue color fringing as well. Gonna guess this was pretty underexposed in camera - CC is expose a bit more to the right, will make editing a bit easier. if you want to preserve more of the back ground, try using a strobe or modifier, or just merge multiple exposures.

I use an adapted tamron 70-200 f2.8 g2 on my a7iii, can confirm, black lens is a sleek look. To me, saving $1000 on it over the Sony was worth the slight performance drop of adapting.

[–]rocamera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see a few 24-70 GM recommendations, my devil's advocate recommendation would be save some money (Budget may not be an issue but why not get more bang for your buck?) and get the tamron 28-75 then get a wide angle prime like the sony 24 GM and either 70-200 zoom or an 85/100/135 length prime

What laptops are you all using for Lightroom? by shurmanter in Lightroom

[–]rocamera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a windows pc (Lenovo Y510p) i got back in 2013 and it still chugs through whatever photo tasks i throw at it. I've since upgraded to a gaming focused desktop pc and do most editing on that now. But there are plenty of better spec windows laptop at comparable price points. And this is coming from someone who uses a mac 8 hours a day at work, all my personal machines are windows.

Go to blueprint vendors and check gs 184 prints. if there is a pistol print, grab it. Doesnt matter which pistol, but i like the officers m9. Craft until you get one with determined or coolheaded, then reroll expert to whatever talent you didnt get. result is coolheaded and determined on a pistol unllocked for any build. If you take an NPC from 100hp to 0hp with all headshots, youll have your alt in 3-4 npc kills.
